Correlation’s

Living like it’s your last day! Living Large. Living to the extreme! Living to Live! These are things that we all say to each other to reinforce our thinking that we are living only to make things bigger and better.

We can start our day with great intentions of building our life up of living the best day ever, accomplishing what we are set out to do. We know how to just survive our day of work, eat, rest and sleep then do it again the next day, and the next day, etc.

We are striver’s, entrepreneurs, builders, dreamers, we want like no other. Our living is our sole mission in life. We only go to work, to get our wants, to continue this seems a never ending story.

My take on this livin is that I think that we have it all figured out! We can live with the best of them. We can party until the cows come home. Our enjoyment is our life.

I think this is where we have missed the boat!

We have learned the art of Living! But we don’t know how to DIE!

Now, I want to clarify myself on what I mean. We have problems on how to die, we try to hide it, cure it, and sometimes we just ignore it. It’s like we don’t wan’t to or something. God or no doctor has ever said that we would live forever! But yet we fight it and struggle with it.

I want to do some math for you next. if 2+2=4,then I think this correlation might  be the same.

In our christian life we know the story of Christ dieing on the Cross with our sins, we also died on that cross! Christ died for us,with us. Our humanity has died. Christ’s spirit lives on with us and with Christ.

Have we ever thought there might be  a correlation between the afraid to die a physical death  and the failure of us dieing to Christ?

Our dieing to Christ should look totally different than what I am seeing in God’s church!

My inclination is leading me to believe that we haven’t died! just yet.

Impaired Vision Through Filters: Part 4 – Missional/Evangelism (via Milt Rodriguez’s Blog)

This is Church!

"For this reason I, Paul, am the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you gentiles. Surely you have heard about the responsibility of administering God's grace that was given to me on your behalf, and how this secret was made known to me through a revelation, just as I wrote about briefly in the past. By reading this, you will be able to grasp my understanding of the secret about Christ, which in previous generations was not made known to hum … Read More

Farm Circles

I was recently on a flight to oklahoma city, flying over the country and many distinct-full scenery of mostly farming communities.  When flying that high in the sky you notice the circles on the ground very easily because they are green, and everything around them are not. You then come to the conclusion that this piece of land must be agriculture property and that it is being irrigated.

My recent reading of the Book of Ruth in the Bible mentions the same thing in the story of Ruth. Naomi, Ruth’s mother in law, talks her into going to Bethlehem to help with the harvest. Ruth’s intention was to pick up the left over grain picked on the corners of the field’s.

The tradition and ways of the Lord was for the corners of the field to be left un-glimmed. The farmer was not to touch the corners of the field for his taking, this was to be used only for the ones who were of need of food. A traveler,a poor one or a widow could come by and harvest the grain and have a meal.

The farmers circle(my description of his land) was his good land that produced his food, was his bounty. A farmer’s harvest was based on following the basic instructions of farming. Plant the seed, care for his land, rely on rain, and wait for the harvest. This was the pattern.

God’s blessing on the farm was in a way based on the farmer’s faith. His faith of his crop was to be expected, (I myself do not have much control of wether my garden makes it or not, I just plant the seed) the farmer also just plants the seeds and has faith that there will be a harvest.

If our faith in our grains is great then our farm land will produce in multiples exponentially. This would be like planting one seed of corn and harvesting 10 ears of corn. Now that’s what I call a harvest. Now there is another side to this story that you might not of seen the first time you read it, or the second. When the farmer was believing and living the faithful life to God, his need was less!! Don’t understand do you? You see this is an example of us dieing to ourselves for our want. Our farm circle will slowly shrink to a smaller circle because of our trust and faithfulness to Christ. He is our all. Do you understand what then happens to our field?

Circle gets smaller, the corner get larger!! The Corner is the testimony of our provider! Our lives are the shinning example of our Lord. He is our spiritual and divine author of our all inclusive Lord. We are His Harvest!!

Symbolism

Symbolism: the use of conventional or traditional signs in the representation of divine beings and spirits.

Have you ever read the bible thru the lenses of Symbolism.

Try at first to re-read Genesis thru the lense of symbolism. Ask questions for every verse, every chapter, every book. Look at it as God is trying to tell you a parable with that hidden gem of reason that He wants you to understand.

There is symbolism in every word in the bible! Remember, God’s ways are not our ways!!

This concept may make your hair stand up when you start reading the bible this way!  You see Jesus was trying to tell the parable’s to the Jews, but yet they didn’t understand either. It could be that our vision of Christ is short-sided, His understanding is beyond our human minds but yet we have that opportunity to be in-tune with Him thru His spirit with ours.

Looking thru the lenses of symbolism may change your perspective  of the bible’s main message, beware.  It is all about Christ and His Body! What was God’s eternal purpose? Put those new glasses on and find out!!

Ideology

I am wondering how ideology actually changes in a society? I don’t really know if I have actually been apart of one or seen one?

The concept I think is depending on the subject matter is done first by true discussion among groups of people either for change or for a revolt. But I don’t know. Let me know what you think?

The only reference that I know of a change of Ideology is from God. His transition for His people in the old testament to the new testament was a very radical change in thinking and doing!  We, I believe are in this beginning of such a transition of Ideology.

We as Christians have failed to separate ourselves from the world as Christ has told us to be. We are apart of the problem, we are working for Christ within the world as opposed to separating ourselves to be the example on the outside. We are to be that Light on the Hill, not in the valley with all the world.

You see( I am sorry to say this, but It has to be said) We are doing, as opposed to Being Christ!!!

You see what we are doing in that building is all wrong!  First, there is no building! Secondly, Christ said in Matt. 16:18-And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. Christ’s eternal plan included us as his church in a indwelling spirit inside of us, that corporately we would be the church or the Bride of His dreams!!

His indwelling spirit, is the key to His building of His Church. I have for the life of me cannot figure out how to sell, push, pawn, argue, coerce, or talk into someone the Indwelling of the Spirit. Now I know what you are going to say about this, that we have a obligation to witness to people! But let me come from a different angle, God has called us to have a testimony of Christ, I believe that it is more of a experience of Christ that we have failed to do, as opposed to clubbing people. Their is that inward movement of the Lord that has to be there, or there is that ultimate brick wall that we encounter with people.

Let me give you some scripture to check out. Acts 7:44, 1 Corinthians 1:6, 2 Corinthians 1:12, Hebrews 10:28, 1 john 5:11, and  Revelation 6:9.

As I have just read this, I am getting the impression that this testimony that is mentioned, is more from a personal perspective ourselves. Let me explain, Read Revelation 6 :9 again.  “When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained.”

In all these verses there seems to be a reference to us having a testimony given to God as to our belief of Christ.

Here is a quote from George Barna: “An individual cannot transform himself, nor can a church transform a person. That work can only be done by God,through the empowerment and direction of the Holy Spirit. But God is eager to partner with those who will cooperate with Him. Understanding what God seeks to do in our lives is a critical step toward not becoming seduced and sidetracked my mere religious activity. The richness of the journey is found in the experience of progressing through the challenges of the process in the company of God”

Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Has anyone read any of his books? I am just reading some of his works and it is also inline with what Watchman Nee and T Austin-Sparks were saying, all around the same time of inspiration.

My Plea

Colossians 2:9-14—For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority. In him you were also circumcised, in the putting off of the sinful nature, not with a circumcision  done by the hands of men but with the circumcision done by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism and raised with him through  your faith in the power of God,who raised him from the dead.

When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your sinful nature,God mad you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us: he took it away, nailing it to the cross.

This is my plea to everyone : We are filled with Christ’s fullness, our sinful nature was crucified on the cross, buried and the Christ’s fullness arose to God. We are alive with Christ NOW!!  God’s work was thru Christ in his work on earth to show us the journey back to HIM.

Let us rejoice in this fact, and Live only with CHRIST’S FULLNESS.

I am amazed

With the advancement of technology, church services, internet, and evangelism, I am still amazed at the lack of influence there is on people for God. We tout our amazing programs, our seminars, our institutions, our leaders and our mighty ways yet we have not left a dent on our world for Christ?

I am  in a precarious situation at the moment in my life. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything! You see God is taking me thru this journey of (hopefully less that 40 yrs) in the desert to cross over into the Promise Land(Christ). I am currently unemployed and still searching for a job, which has left me with time to search God in alot of ways. God has used many great men and their wisdom, the Bible, and mainly inspiration thru Christ Himself to me.

I see and hear people in my smaller circle of life and influence and have noticed that friends and family are still unreached as far as Christ. Why is that?

I have asked the question many times to people on how they can be changed on particular matter, and the answer is usually I am not sure?  Which this has brought me to the notion that I as Doug am powerless to do so to change anyones mind!

My favorite verse in the bible is Romans 12:2-Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is-his good, pleasing and perfect will.

The renewing of my mind, let alone of anyone else’s mind is not under my control! I am not a mind melt person!  I have done a 360 degree thinking on some things in the last few years and a few 270 degrees and they have not come from me personally but from The LORD. I believe that this also only can come from HIM, not me or anyone else. His nature is all we need.

We who are Christ like should be just that, Christ like. We are to be Christ ‘s nature. He was Christ. People just believed because He was Christ.

This has led me to realization that I must have Christ Nature. period.

One like mind?

Acts 4:32- All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions was his own,but they shared everything they had.

We now have over 450,000 denominations in the U.S., Is this really the Church?

This is not what God was looking for in the Church!

I am just saying?

Football fanatics

I am not the only crazy out there in this world that is crazy for their football team.My particular team is the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Now my intense following of this team has come to some far out extremes. I never miss a game on tv, I buy everything that involves the Huskers. I talk about it on a daily basis, my wife loves the little tidbits of news that I share with her!, Don’t talk to me when it is game time, have every hat, shirt, and accessory, this reinforces our deep down commitment to our cause. But yet this is the exact same behavior of all my Husker fans.  We all act, talk, and breath the same team! This is just in my small inner circle around my family, too. Now let me broaden the perspective of this truth.

When I want to have more of a experience of this I sometimes go to a sports restaurant that has many more crazy huskers and we experience the Game! Now, Our only objective at this function, is to eat, talk about the subject,Nebraska football and watch the Huskers Win. Fellowship is our only priority in this setting.

Now If I was to take it to the next level, I would shell out the tickets, car or plane fare, eats, and room and board to stay in Lincoln,Nebraska. This would have to be for every game on saturday,of course. Our identity is the same, our spirit is the same, our likeness is the same(everyone wears red). When we come together we are one, HuskerNation. (the title as we are commonly known for)

This concept I believe is the  Church that God describes in the Bible. We are a pillar,we can be a few pillars together, or as pillars around the world as the Whole Church. It is the concept that I am a pillar, I can be with other pillars in my city, or I can represent all pillars of the world as “the Church” or Body of Christ.

God’s desire is for us to be OF Him.

When I watch a game or go to watch a game, I am not Doug, I am a Husker NUT. I am one with the State.

This should be what we are of Christ!
