It is just Awesome!

The amazing thing about searching God is the truths that come out through people, authors, bible, and just pausing in life to see God.

Let me expand on this subject. My take on our journey as christians, has taken a erroneous  turn that has taken us away from the truth. What I mean from this is that we missed alot from the bible in how we perceive it. We read the words, then either memorize them, or take them for their existence in the bible and that is it.

I believe where we have gone wrong is that we have missed two stories behind the words. One is the actual context behind the  story or event that was going on in a particular passage. We need to understand the nuances behind the event or the author.Who was the author talking to?What were the circumstances going on around the event? Why was he talking to these people? We could actually know the author’s purpose in writing the words that he did.

My solution to this problem is also knowing the history or some different aspects of the Jewish lives and their understanding of the world at their time. We may have missed some key perspectives on why and how God’s people did not have “faith” in God.

The second story is behind the previous story is that their is either a inference or an actually symbolic meaning of the story of event. Now, this is sometimes considered a touchy subject with people and how they view the bible and it’s understanding. If one can start by seeing one symbolic thing in the scriptures you can start to see others if you are looking from those glasses. You will eventually find out that they all start to point to each other and tell a whole story. The bible will come alive to you as read from then on!

Looking at events through symbolic eyes is really astounding to do and once you see things in this different light, you won’t go back. I am not sure if  this is because you see a part of the big picture of God or it is just God let’s you see His eternal purpose. From experience, over the last few years I have seen the bible in a totally new light, it is like a whole new story of God.

If this revelation from God in the bible is from a “spiritual realm” then it has to be different than that what we could ever imagine or write, we need to be aware of this about God. He is an “Eternal God”. A God from outside of this world, time and space.

I challenge you to “look” at the bible from a different perspective of looking deeper into the meaning of the words of the bible, even the most mundane and reoccurring ones. They all have meaning behind them throughout the bible.

Another key way to understand the scriptures is to pray-read the bible. Huh? Pray-reading the bible is praying as you read the word to be in the spirit of God while reading his thoughts. It does make a difference. After all, the words(God) are alive, aren’t they!?

Have we been looking at this the wrong way?

The bible is a very unique book that has withstood thousands of years of scrutiny, volumes of translations, attacks of authenticity, historical accuracy and many more attempts of blemishing of it’s Holy words.

This last year has kept up with the trend to attack it’s power and identity. Let me say something here that might sound sorta weird, This attacking of the bible for what it is and stands for has given many  the believers and nonbelievers something to openly discuss things in a very new and exciting way. And for what it is worth, there always comes out of these discussions, some new thoughts and what if scenarios that can boggle my mind and many others too. Personally, I love it.

I truly believe that the “real” church is outside the  walls of the church’s that we see at every corner. I believe that the people that are truly seeking God and His understandings are very creative and diligent in their search. This is why I believe that blogging, authors writing outside the box, theologians that are not afraid to go outside their structure of comfort and tell what they believe, that is really bringing about the corporate church.

For the ones that are stuck in an environment that is in “just keep on doing what your doing” brick and mortar  environment  I feel sorry for you. You are very sheltered, and non-thinking of but a minuscule piece of the eternal purpose of God. After all, God is concerned with the whole church, not  the pieces of it. This may sound harsh, but I believe it is the mistake that we “Christians” have made. God’s crescendo  that He talks about is the bride and  not billions of people to become His  people(church), but just his Church, and she has a name, “His Bride”. This is the corporate name of His church.

If we could somehow look at what the bible or God is showing us throughout the bible that he is not concerned with the little pieces of the pie, but the pie itself is the goal.

This brings me to the point of “are we looking at the references of the bible the wrong way” when it is mentioning the humanness of the story of Man and Woman?

We seem to take the stance that God is talking about us as humanity is to act and do as the two identities are portrayed. Think about this for a moment- If God knows that we are of a flawed nature, and that there is nothing we could do to change this nature, not even being good would correct it, then why would God give us instructions on how to do something to mask the flaw in our nature?

But what if we are being told and shown in this divine way that if we are “reborn” into Christ that we not of this “old nature” but of a “new nature” an Divine Nature that is of God and we(as the church) then will be a virgin bride for Him on that glorious day of the Wedding feast!!*

Look at the message of the bible, from beginning to end, what God is looking for and who and how is being shown us of God’s Eternal Purpose.

He wants a Bride.

* For a more in depth study of this train of thought of God’s Eternal Purpose, find the book at your bookstore of Frank Viola’s titled  “From Eternity to Here”. It is a great read and shows you the underlining message throughout the bible of what God is showing to His people. His Church. His Bride.

I would like to take a new look at Genesis and the “Fall” and maybe shed some new light on it.

The setup of the story starts in Genesis 2 and continues in Genesis 3 for the climax of the fall. Go ahead and read this first to have some background.

If you will notice in this story that once God set the parameters in the garden of Eden, that the focus was instantly put on the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In our beliefs and understanding of this small but powerful message, we may have overlooked something. Let’s look!

If I was standing at a y intersection of a road with two signs on it, that told me what was ahead of each road, I have to contemplate which way I wanted to go and why. Let’s say that one sign said that I could go somewhere where it was a   paradise and that I would be able to chose all the great things that I could do and know what was good for me. The other sign said that I could chose a way of life that was designed and built for me by my creator.

Now, when I had chosen my path and decided to take it down it’s long and winding road, it was when I took that first step in the direction of the paradise road that I was wrong. It was not when I was already at the branches of the tree of knowledge of good and evil picking the best fruit on it, that I “sinned”, you see I had already chosen my path by “not” taking the first step to the “Tree of Life”!

This is what I believe we need to re-look at the genesis story  to see it’s true meaning of the Life of God in us that we have missed out on. Adam, by walking towards the tree of knowledge of good and evil, instantly had decided not to walk towards the Tree of Life,God. It was in that moment that God was saddened and already planning to show Adam that his decision would cost him and his generations dearly.

Does this premise change anything for you? should it? why is it different than the sin  being started by biting the apple at the tree?

Let me maybe shed some light on it,as I see it.

If we see the fact  that We(God’s People) Adam(corporately)have chosen not him but those things of the world,or satan. Then, God in his infinite wisdom was then going to work on getting them to “repent”(this word has been misused by many a pastor or people of faith that has actually taken us down even a different road, that is another story),repent only means “to go the opposite direction”, so if we take this meaning and apply it to the story of genesis, then it would mean that Adam’s first step was toward the Tree of Life and God. Wow, now that would be a whole new story wouldn’t it!!

In God’s perfect wisdom, he wasn’t going to spank us and put us on the right road to him, no, He was going to let us see for ourselves that our innate qualities of humanness was going to be our downfall. Boy was He right on that one.

This, in itself was, and is the way that God would show us that it would not be our righteousness, that we could be saved from this path, but His righteousness(by dying on  the cross) that would save us and get us on the right path.

It is the ability of Life of and in God thru Christ that His plan would bring us back to that crossroads and to have us(God’s people,Church) take that first step to the Tree of Life!!
