Starting from a clean slate

I have hinted in a few  blogs in the past that I have written about our views or our perspectives of the scriptures. It is not just of late that it is being mis-viewed, it has been skewed from the 1700’s on with layered with more layers of mis-aliagned  perspective.

The angle that which we(christianity) have come from is the one from the New Testament.

This makes our view  tainted.

It is when we realize that the story started from the old testament and continued thru the new testament to complete the story. The testament’s or my preference is ‘the covenant’s’ are a continuance not separated storlines. All elements of the scenario’s are inter-related, they build  on each other as the story goes on, all the way to the end.

All that to say, the biblical story, is a Jewish story, a Jewish story about people, a Jewish story about people and their God.

Our slate must begin with the Jewish people and their God.

We must read the story in it’s completion only from the standpoint of the jewish story.

“Created” takes over?!

This title could be used as a great movie title for a lot of movies in our world.

It is always the creator’s creation that seems to come to life and  assumes control of the situation or even of the ‘world’ to cause havoc on the world. It will always comeback to bite the ‘created’ in the back-end to no avail because of its ‘real’ lack of power over everything that it wants to master.

Pondering this scenario, I wonder if we somehow know deep down inside that this is what humans have done themselves  to the creator, circumnavigate the real power of the world?

Has humans unknowing or knowingly tried to become the monster of the quote “I have the Power” of it all?

Isn’t this the real crux of the story of Adam and Eve, the first humans, seeing that they could make their own decisions on life and how it would work that they decided not to be instructed by the creator to take instructions, but to be the instructor of themselves.

God has allowed us to take this journey on ourselves, to see the problematic paradigm  that it is. It is understanding that this scenario is still going on still today. The need to see that the creator has the ‘only’ power of all for all, is still veiled over our eyes just as the children of Israel were to who Jesus really was.

It is this paradigm of knowing the creator, that is yet to be seen to the majority of humans today. It is the reality of knowing of who now is in ‘authority’, who is ‘King’,Leader,’Saviour’, or God! It is this knowledge of changing our perception of creator and the reign of some kind(kings, presidents, dictator, chancellor) or whatever leader(a human institution) you have, to that of a ‘heavenly'(as opposed to an earthly institution one that we have) Kingdom such as God has reigned from eternally past to eternally future and forever.

This concept is what is veiled in scripture for a long time until you start to see hints from Jesus during his persecution and his death, that He says that ‘His kingdom is not of this world'(not a physical one, or necessarily a place at all, but a ‘Way’ of doing things, a different way than is being done now. The way of the ‘Adam and Eve’ method of man being in charge of things.

It is ironic that even in the old testament that the children of Israel knew that it wasn’t right in this scenario, that they actually asked for help in changing it. But it wasn’t quite what God had hoped for, Yes, his people asked for ‘King’ but it was for a humanly ‘king’ not God, the Creator, the obvious choice for King!

It will not change in this paradigm until we see the ‘believers’ of God actually ‘see’, ‘act’, and acknowledge God as the ‘King of All for All’.

It is with this understanding that this will then be the fulfillment of his original creation of his people, kingdom, and King.

Backstory!

Do you ever come across something in your bible study that goes against your belief that you have now?

This is happening to me in a lot of studying that I have been doing in the last seven years. I am not on purpose looking for things that are obviously different, but I am looking at the foundation of the christian faith and how it started. It is different from what we see now in our ‘christian’  life.

I know that statement comes out of left field, for some, but you must stop and think and relook at the scriptures, and also the back story of christianity, to get the actual meaning of the scriptures. Back story is very, very important, do not take it lightly, no matter what somebody tells you. You see, only now when someone tells you a story today, and they tell you about something happened to them and what it made them do,say, or react can you totally understand how they would tell the story, you know the background of it all.

But if I was to tell you, a story, from the early 1800’s, you would need to know some background of the story to fully understand on why, where, how, when, and what was going on in my story, or else you would come to some different perspective of the story than I  wanted you to get.  So it is with the same argument that we must use to understand the story of the scriptures. I believe this with all of my heart that this is why we have come with some different messages throughout our reading of the word.

Reading of a back story in a time period and of a society, does not infringe on anything of the bible’s authoritative premise, but it enhances the story to let us be fully aware of what was going on and why. “……and you were there!” is an appropriate phrase to use if we were to put ourselves in the ‘biblical narrative’  in real-time. It would just blow our socks off, if we were to be tele-ported into the scenes of biblical times. I am also convinced that we would come away from the biblical story with a lot of different belief’s and understandings.

It is sometimes frowned upon in some christian circles to not look at or use any ‘outside material’ to further ourselves in biblical knowledge. But what is not understood with biblical studies is that we have taken everything for face value, or the black and white of it. This will just not do!! We need to just go back 200 yrs to see that things changed on the way we perceived things and the reformation parted ways with Catholicism. It is with Martin Luther and John Calvin, that led the way with a different belief system in the scriptures.

This is even more reason to  further ‘your’ study, not anyone’s, or anyone’s group but your’s to make it concrete in your belief. This method of searching the scriptures about the people, land, leaders, societies, gods, kingdoms, kings, rulers, and beliefs will ultimately make God’s story come alive!!
