Ironic things

When we go back and look at scripture three or four times in what it really means, or we see things that we never saw before, it makes it well worth the digging into the scriptures to know God.

One such thing that I have perceived is the story of Jesus’s birth and the storyline behind it. Do we really just sit and look at what all the pieces mean to the story and why they do? Now, this might seem strange or unimportant but I think it is a piece of the story. Mary, being the woman,(as opposed to the man) in the story is in the heritage of Eve. Eve,(both are to be convicted of the crime,Adam) being the first one to against God in the Garden, is where the journey will begin in the downward swirl of sin. The founder of sin, being in the wrong, to be corrected has got to stem from this angle of righteousness. This can only be fulfilled from the lineage of the woman. It will then follow thru to Mary,(the woman) who gives birth to the Holy Child. Jesus, being both man and God, has the lineage of man and his restitution in Him to correct the lie of man.

Secondly, this follows thru one more phase with Christ the Messiah, and His redeeming power upon man. It is within Christ that He has a women within Him that He gives birth to His body, and Bride. This ‘Bride’ is, you guessed it the woman still in the story. God has a way of keeping us in the storyline that doesn’t go far from it’s intention. God’s love for His bride has made a long journey to get us thru the entire story, but he has. In Revelation 21-22, He continues it still, with a Wedding Feast with all invited to celebrate the communion of God and His Bride.

and then it was fulfilled.

Where to begin. It seems that what I thought to be a norm, isn’t with everyone.

The reality of the law in the old testament of being fulfilled by Christ’s fulfillment of all aspects of it, in his dying and his resurrection of New Life after it.

The Law. What was it? What did it represent? What was the meaning of the law being fulfilled?

In Exodus is where the story of the law starts, In Exodus 24: 12 is the explanation of the law and it’s intent. The law was directed at God’s people that He appointed to represent Him in the world. It was for these people to ‘be different’, than all others in the world. They were to be His image in the world to show the world that this is who He is. People did realize that these people were different in their worship of just one God, their eating of select things, and their ways of living in the world accordingly to God’s laws.

God’s people, the Israelite’s were unable to fulfill this ‘law’, with their idolatry of other gods and worshiping them instead. It was attempt by man to succumb to it’s own ‘law’ to do what ‘man’ wanted to do. Man being ‘corrupted’ by himself, would never be able to ‘obey’ man’s law, let alone God’s law. God knowing this, sacrificed his son, to fulfill the law and also because God ordained it in the scriptures. It was so.

Idolatry is the sin of man, that turned God’s face away from his creation, man. It was to be the insult that God could not believe let alone stand for. It was God that was the creator of all the universe, including his world, and his creation, Man.

God’s Grace is sufficient. For All. God’s grace covers man and his attempt to control his own world around him for centuries is still grace. No matter how bad he gets in trying to control it by his own ‘laws’.

It is because God’s son Jesus the ‘Messiah’, fulfilling the law to it’s fulness, that it has become the end of the law, in reality of man. Jesus, tied to the heritage of King David and his decree that the ‘Savior’ would come to them. The old covenant to man was fulfilled and a new one was being instituted to man that would be able to fulfill this covenant to all men. God’s grace to man was being instituted to him by his love and faith in man, giving him another chance and ability to come back to their God.

God’s old covenant to man is done and fulfilled to the extent that one covenant can not take effect unless another has been complete, a new one can in come in to effect. Knowing this is key to our moving on in our understanding of God, and His ways, We are to come back to Him with a new and refreshing way to worship Him. It will be different this time.

Man was not able to do it in his own strength with the first covenant. In the second covenant, it will be different in it’s reality, It will be in the Spirit of God that is within us, that will be in the way of Worship. God’s world is defined by Him and by his creation, Man. It is this, that will bring man back to God.

It is this New Covenant that will unite God with his creation, man. Worshiping the one God, that created, watched after his creation and protected his image in the place that He created.

This is the fulfillment of God’s Eternal Purpose!

Curiosity, doesn’t kill the cat.

My experience on being curious, especially curiosity about religion, bible, or theology is very rare, once you are stuck in your belief.

This I have decided is mainly because of tradition, or ritual or heritage. It is a mindset that has gotten for the most part the generation of the older believers. This I believe, is because of even more things that I believe are the cause of this stance, as I said in the previous statement. There are things that are actually are enabling this to continue in the lives of believers.

I will try to stay on topic, but I will have to put in some things that are close to me on why still, some things are hampering the daily christian is struggling with this issue. This is problem with the ‘curiosity’ of the believer, is that it is the ‘sound bite’ that he/she receives once a week, that seems to satisfy the ‘customer’ for a week, but just enough curiosity to come back next week to hear another juicy morsel of satisfaction. What is even more horrifying, is that over a life time of this media snippets, I am pretty sure they have heard the same ones 5-10 times. This is so wrong in so many ways. This is not how a christian learns ‘wisdom’ of God, from sound bites every weekend! It is from either from a true christian experience of having that hunger for God, that you ‘search’ for God in everyway possible to know Him.

Now back to the story. If and when we are journeying thru our christian life we must somehow listen to what the Spirit of the Lord is telling us, in what ever way He does. God can speak to anyone thru any means possible. God’s word is one that has led me to many of questions, that I had to go searching for understanding in others. It is very helpful in looking to other avenues of knowledge, that will lead us to the true ‘wisdom’ of God.

There seems to be a very strong reluctance of peeping outside the box of tradition. It is what I believe and that is it. period. This is so damaging to us and to others. If our tradition is right, then the others must be wrong. This is a damaging scenario that we don’t even want to tackle now. But just remember this in your beliefs going forward. We will eventually be made of the Same mind, and will of God. So something ‘will’ change, you or them, or all of us. lol

I have a pet peeve with a few scenario’s that I have had with discussions with people. I have been around the block a few times in the arena of religious institutions, I have been on both sides of the fence of these institutions, I am also a Preacher’s Kid(also known as PK) Please don’t hold that against me!lol I know the inner workings of it. But I may not know the inner workings of some far out different institution, but If I don’t I will usually quickly do some research and reading on said such religion or whatever. My issue is when someone will refuse to do the same for me and my stance or theology. I have been very aggressive on learning as much as I can from whoever I can to ‘know’ or ‘see’ where someone is coming from in their discussions with me. Using anything I can learn from, either bible, authors of the theology, Youtube, websites, video’s, what ever to know the belief’s of that person. This is my curiosity in me by nature that I am curious just to know. You never know when you will use this little piece of information, or even algebra!

When you have discussions with someone in theology or biblical themes of the bible your words will ‘tell on you’, If you talking about something, the words will, tell anyone what your knowledge is of the subject. Most people that I talk to are very minimalist in there wisdom of their insight. When I don’t know something about the topic of their discussion I will always ask questions about it. Learning insight in the conversation in the moment is key to knowing the other side of it.

My personal choice for knowledge it seems is the over 400 books that I have by various authors, commentaries, bibles, and just topical books to give me insight to something. I am a avid user of youtube videos of various preaching, instructional, historical, biblical learning that I can. I am also a very religious believer in reading other peoples blogs on church, religion, theology, and life. This is also why I have alot emails in my box!(takes time to read all of them) I also try to blog on the things that I believe that important to me, in the storyline of God in his scriptures.

I have been on a journey for over 60 yrs and I have made some twists and turns that have changed my coarse of my life. There has been some tough times, and there will be more, but also there have been some mind blowing things that I have come across that I think everyone should be apart of. It is well with my soul, in my very winding road of adventure with God, but I believe that God has me right where He wants me.

Get out of your rut, tradition, same old – same old, sound bit, or snippet and dig deep, real deep and look out from the box and see if there is more to the story of God. Read some theology books, read different authors from different thinking, watch some religious programming from a different view, read christian history, listen to music-do you believe the words in the song, God is out there, you will find a plethora of things about him that may just make you say “I hadn’t thought of that before, or I didn’t know that”, but most importantly ‘I need to dig into that more’ is a journey into God’s Wisdom that He has for You and everyone around you.

So no, Curiosity does not kill the cat, It makes him like Christ!

The Law(are we still ‘doing’ it?)

This subject is one that has been studied countless ways. What is it? What does it include? Is it the 10 laws? Is it 613 laws? Is it the laws of today? Does it include the gentile’s?

At the surface of this question it has many facets to it. We could talk or discuss it for months, but let’s take a different approach to this subject. Let’s go below the actual question and let’s discuss what is the intention of the law by God given to the nation of Israel.

The nation of Israel was the focus of the law, it was because it was given to them because of their selected appointment by God to be for the interest of all the world to stand up and look at God’s people as the light of the world. Israel was being called by God to be the influence that brings all of the world back to Him.

God had laid out his plans for the whole world to worship him as their creator and their God. It was an attempt to ‘show’ the world that God was God of All. God’s people were wandering away from Him and His Kingdom in their journey to know him, their was mingling with the world around them, which was taking them away from Him.

It is then that the God of Israel, put the ‘Law’ into the hands of man to follow and to ‘do’ them right. This was to be a effort by man to come to Him. It was to be a test, a test of man to see if he ‘could’ do the ‘Law’. This is also known as the ‘works’ of the law. It depended on man, and man alone.

No notice the words that were used in the former paragraph in the description of action to ‘do’ the law. The action is all on man. it is of his effort, that it is based on. God’s hand is not in this. God said that if they(Israel) followed the law that God would provide for them and take care of them.

This was an agreement with things on both sides of the table, but it started with man(Israel),and also gentiles in that if they couldn’t do the moral thing of the law that it would still fail as a mankind attempt of following God. This was a huge attempt for man to prove itself on God. But they failed.

Their ‘works’ or ‘doing’ the law failed. It was not because it was impossible, but it was not possible because they were mankind and they were not ‘Holy'(not of God,because of their idolatry of man itself) They were incapable of ‘doing’ the law.

Let me tell you of a secret of mine. I sometimes will do something when I read things in my studies of Theology. I call it the ‘opposite’ view, when I see something that says “You are to do this when this happens”, I will suggest to myself that let’s look at this if it is in the opposite light. So let’s use this ‘opposite’ view here.

The opposite of ‘works’ or ‘doing’ is not doing it at all or not personally working at something, like letting someone else do it, because I can’t. (unable, not capable)

So, now let’s plug this in to the equation from above. If God’s desire was have ‘His’ people to be the image of Him, like He created Him for, then this was God’s actions that have created this to be in motion. It was God’s ‘work’, and only His ‘work’, there was no subcontracting out to man to try and help him out. It was all on God.

The ability of man to follow law(s) was a mute attempt, because they were ‘man’, It was only an execution by God that was to be made. It would be by the power of God only to do this.

Now, let’s take the next step forward, albeit a dangerous one in most eyes of christianity. Let me just put it in form of a question.

Are we still doing this same thing as christians in the form of our ‘idea’s’ on how we should be Christlike?

Should we not stop ‘working’ or just ‘doing’ things that we ‘think’ is the right way to do things in our christian life, but instead letting God ‘build’ His Own Church!!

Let go and Let God.

Spiritual Paradigm

The law was of a fleshly realm for mankind. Two things on this. It was designed for a mankind in the flesh. Mankind was human. This is the world that He lived in, it could be no other way, for him to exist, or do. It was an attempt to do right by laws for man, how ever he perceive them to be, good or bad. God made them actually pretty simple and dirext to the point.

It is in this paradigm that mankind was to live and flourish, only to follow those ten laws. Why then, were there problems? Were the ten laws to hard to follow, to many, or just not for man? What was going to be man’s laws if he didn’t follow God’s laws? Why would man not follow the Creator’s laws, considering He created everything in it and knew how creation should work together? But it was man’s misunderstanding that without Man to follow thru with his part of being the facilitator of all things created, it wasn’t going to work. All things work for the glory of the Lord.

This was the scenario of human paradigm. But it is the New Paradigm that we are in, that is different in all ways. This is because we are not in the paradigm of man, or humans. We are “in Christ”, as it says in Romans 8.2 “For the law of the Spirit of life ‘in Christ’ Jesus made me free from the law of Sin and of Death. Being ‘In Christ’ makes us different than what we were before, flesh. God’s design for us was ‘to be different’ in the world, but it was not attainable thru the ‘law’.

We were ‘flesh’.

We are now, in the ‘Spiritual Paradigm’. It is of God and His realm. To ‘know’ what this Paradigm means or is, is to ‘know’ God. Who He is, What He is,Why He is what He is. God is Eternal. God’s world is His. Not ours. He created it long time ago in the Garden of Eden, which man was not satisfied with God’s way and said ‘I’ can do better. (We know how that went, right)

We first need to understand Genesis 1-2. Understand chapter 3, on why we went down the wrong road. Compare Genesis 1-2 with Revelation 21-22 to see the picture in both of these illustrations and see that we ‘will’ get back there, soon!

Let’s go back to the first of the discussion that we talked about the ‘law’. The Law that we talk about can be the actual ten words that God gave Moses on Mt. Sinai for the nation of Israel, for which we seemed to have continued this ‘paradigm’ of doing ‘works’ to satisfy God to be righteous. Even in this ‘New Covenant’ that we as christians seem to say that we are ‘in’, we still seem to be following the ways of the old covenant and its ‘laws’.

Just think on this without condemning the statement. Print out the Ten Commandments on a piece of paper(or write them down), Now go thru this list of ‘laws’ are we ‘trying’ to do in our personal or your corporate life (church, synagogue,Mass),Rules, sacraments, bylaws, traditions, institutions, remembrances, and any other thing that would be an institutional regulation. Do any of these fit into the New Covenant or Spiritual Paradigm?

It is actually a hindrance to us by doing any of these to actually ‘Be in Christ’! We cannot serve two masters!

We are now ‘IN CHRIST’, we should be ‘being’ different, not as man did before. We should be proclaiming from the rooftops, that we are “in Christ”, and the ‘world’ cannot beat us, God will be Triumphant in the end! It is God working thru us that will establish his Kingdom. Not any other way!

Romans 15.29 “And I know that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of Christ”

An Epistle of Christ

I am always reading books. I have alot of books. I don’t read them to just say that I’ve read them but I read them so that I understand what the author is trying to tell me. After all, this is what every author is trying to do, no matter what the genre you read.

My current book is the “Israel’s law and the Church’s faith” Paul and his recent interpreters. Like most books that I read they are not your average read a book in a day thing. No, they are ones that you have to read, then think and ponder, then reread it again, and to check the notes on the said paragraph and check the references in the bible for clarity. This is a very painstaking way to just read a book but it is the way one should make sure you understand what you are reading. What is really funny to think about is this is the way that Christians should read the bible, in a very systematic way with using the references and notes as guides to ‘see’ what the ‘author’ is really saying.

I say this by the fact that in this latest book I’m reading it mentions 2 Corinthians 3. 4-18 as a verse which backs up the author’s point. It is in this scripture that I see that it includes verses 2-3 which I will write.

2 Corinthians 3.2 Ye are our epistle, written in our hearts know and read of all men: 3. being made manifest that ye are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written no with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God’ not in tables of stone, but in tables that hearts of flesh.

verse v also And such confidence have we through Christ to God-war: 5 not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves: but our sufficiency is from God.

Now this is a very important ideal that we must ‘see’ in today’s paradigm of the christianity that we live in. For it is a very subtle but important thing to know it the setting of God. You see, Paul was talking to the corinthians thru letters, when in his building them up in to continuing what they were doing in their community, He tells them that they have been an a ‘epistle’ to him as a influence of their love of God.

It was because Paul seen and felt the Love of God in them as He himself had that the Spirit of God was with them in the same way. He tells them they are of the same mold because their are both filled with the Spirit of God, making them equal in God.

This insight that I had to stop and look it to it as I was reading, is the reason it takes me awhile to go thru my theology books. I am always stopping to ‘see’ something that is a ‘aha’ moment in my studying. But with no regrets I am always chalking it up to increasing my knowledge of Christ in my life.

To take this a even further in the scheme of things, knowing that we are one in the spirit of God with our spirit of Christ in us, we must ‘see’ that it is and should be Christ leading us,all of us into Christ’s presence of His Kingdom(Heaven). If you didn’t understand the former sentence(I am always hoping that people understand what I am trying to say, in a indirect way, sometimes this is futile, but I try anyway) This should tell us that ALL OF US(no titles included) are the community of God, we will someday be joined with other communities of God to be considered the BODY OF CHRIST!

It is mission to understand this and then to act upon it by being an ‘epistle’ of all of man!

P.S. Still not finished with the book!

Reading the fine print

(I wrote this on facebook this morning on the spur of the moment, tell me what you think!)

There something that is missed when we talk about the ‘Sabbath’ in our institutions and our theology. If you notice, we are taking the foundation of ‘Sabbath’ understanding from the example of the jewish ways that God set up for them. For one thing this was for only them, it was temporary and was not the true example of what ‘Sabbath’ was. We so hurriedly read genesis 1-2 as just the beginning of time that God created. But this is why we MUST and I say MUST slow down and understand the scriptures rightly. When God describes each day that He created by describing what He made and then saying It was good. Then also saying it was evening then day.(Evening, is always said first, because this is what the world was first-Dark(evil,chaos)) This is also why the Jewish nation started with the night first then the day in their time keeping. This is done for the first six days of creation, but it changed for the seventh day,. It says that God had completed His kingdom and He was finished—- and it was day.! Do you see what God did? He changed the kingdom into a Forever Kingdom for Adam and Eve. This was by design of God to show them that this reality of Creation was the Eternal Purpose. This was the blueprint of God all along. Sabbath(worshipping of God) was instituted in the garden. This is not a one day event! It is to be a forever eternal purpose! This is our model, not that of the Jewish model. But guess what! there’s more! Revelation 21-22 Tells us that WE ALL will be soon be in this blueprint in the coming days. It is the same thing said that this is what it will be like when God’s kingdom is upon us. So let’s start our new found Daily Worship of Him and get to that last scenario of Revelation 21-22! check out more things like this on my blog theeternalpurpose.life
