Walking, Talking Christ

Life is hard.

It is hard fighting it.

We seem to be fighting life from the negative side or from the bad side of the equation. We believe that if we fight for a bad cause to make it better, life will get better. But fighting from this angle it can wear us down after time. In fact, our crusade could take us our whole life to conquer it. If even then it would be conquered then. This is just coming from a personal conviction, what about everyone else?

This way of fighting the negative could be considered a social fight to rid the world of the all the ‘so-called’ evil in the world. The effort that ‘our’ mission seems to be to rid the ‘evil’ is misguided in that God has vowed that this is ‘His’ job to fill. Man’s ability to make the ‘social ills’ of society, could be a disaster to all involved by the turmoil of what someone deems to be ‘evil’. We may be seeing this now in our world now.

But more importantly, who is to say ‘What is Evil or bad in one’s society’?

The other side of the coin, could be, no, It ‘is’ the way to attack the world. It is the standing up as a follower of Christ and the ‘identity’ that it upholds as the body of Christ. As was in the old testament the identity of God’s people was their identity of their law, and their own God. God’s change to the new covenant was to write the ‘law’ on the hearts of his people.

Our concept of what our ‘identity’ as a Christ follower has got to coincide with what the foreshadow of the old covenant. We must stand as representative of Christ in our world, such as a High Priest would do in Israel.

I saw an illustration of a small group of people singing carols in a circle, holding candle’s, with one being lit. The key to this illustration is the way that it is the right way to do it. You see, When one has the lit candle in a crowd, showing light in a dark place, all others are wanting to be ‘in’ the light. So there instinct is to ‘go’ to the one that has the light and be ‘like’ or just ‘be’ light.

You started with one candle lit(Christ’s light), with darkness all around him. You then are approached by someone from the darkness asking for to be in the ‘light’ with the touching of candles, to produce a brighter light. Those two lights are approached with another candle wanting to be lit as a light for himself, and for others. It is then seen by someone farther away in the darkness, that sees a light for direction, and goes there to have their candle(life) represented as a light in the world.

It is this model of God’s people coming together as one that will become God’s Kingdom.

It’s Context

Contextthe situation in which something happens : the group of conditions that exist where and when something happens.

It is this concept that has gotten lost in our understanding of reading the words of the scriptures of God. God has laid out a narrative of God’s creation with the entente of ‘seeing’ his design of life in our world and His. It was laid out in front of us as tho we were there in person, hovering above all the journeys of our forefathers, our societies, our heritage.

Our journey, our lives are influenced by everyone, everything around us, even today. It is this dominion that makes us who we are. It tells a story of ourselves, for the generation after us and beyond. It tells a story that includes everything that we touched, in our small world or a large world. With the advent of the internet most people are connected to someone across the globe. Our lives are changed on a whim with anything that crosses our path, whether it be good or bad. But it is the correction that what makes a life in what it is.

The bible is the same way, a story of all the lives involved in the life and times of God. A story entwined with stories within stories, intrigued, love, hatred, family, nation, kings, Judges, Prophets, turmoil, laws, sin, and resurrection. When we listen or read about a story that someone is sharing with us, the circumstances around the story are key to knowing the why’s, the What’s,the How’s, and the Who’s. The ‘bible was created for us, but not to us.’ The bible was the story of Israel, the people, the time, and the trials and struggles of God’s people. It is in this that we will have to ‘see’ what God has for us.

Christianity and theology has only read in the black and white of the letters of the scriptures to understand God. God is in Himself. He is in His own Kingdom, His own Government, His own Will. God works different. He works in a Spiritual Kingdom, a Spiritual way. He works in parable’s. He does not work in a earthly way. Not man’s way.

The understanding of God’s way is not unreachable. We know this because of the gospel’s message in the first century with the disciples. This comes about by faith. Faith in God and His Son. The catalyst of God’s Kingdom is the indwelling of His people in His Spirit.

The ‘Ekklesia’ is key to all this coming about to the world. It has to share the ‘right good news’, It must tell the world that “God is King” now, and will be fully instated in God’s time. Our perception of what the Ekklesia is to be has been tainted, mis-understood. This has to be corrected for it to be God’s will. Man’s way is not God’s way. Man must quit doing ‘His way’ and do God’s will.

This is why God’s ‘context’ is key to following God’s will. We must dig down much deeper in context of the scriptures to see God’s will. The scriptures are our context to God’s will and storyline. What must happen is to relook at the ‘message’ that God has laid out for us. The paradigm is wrong. It must be changed to God’s way, not ours. Including everything that is man made. Everything.

Let us start from the first. Genesis. It is where everything started, so it is the way that things were supposed to be. It was a Kingdom in itself. It was called ‘The Garden of Eden’, God’s Kingdom. It was to be made for man to cherish and to be the gardener of its land. This would seem to be the blueprint of God. Set up a kingdom, put his people in it and be their God. This seems to be God’s will.

We must see this and realize that man has gone their own way, and tried to set up their own kingdom in the structures of church’s, pastor’s and laity. Has mankind influenced the christian into their own ways? So it seems.

What’s the message,Church?

With times of our society now in the United States we would think that the ‘Church’ would have a dominate universal message to All of it’s people stating what the whole world is facing in their lives

But I have doubts that that is what is happening.

I feel that, it is the same old message of what ever the season is, on what the message is this week. Why can’t the ‘Church’ see the world to use as the actual instrument of what God was pointing to as the crescendo of evil in the world by mankind to rise against it and seeing that God’s reign is there for a purpose. This should be on every ‘preacher’ in the pulpit in every church in the world, every week, every day til Christ comes back to claim His Bride!

Just to make things clear, this is not a U.S. problem, its a world issue. This is to be considered a universal problem of all christianity to realize, it needs to ‘see’ the dark battling the ‘light’. God’s light will shine everywhere, there will not be any darkness to be found! God is Sovereign. God is in control. His people,His kingdom and His Sovereignty will be reality!

God is Good.

Is knowledge passed on thru the generations of your family?

6:20–25 Teaching the children. Moses then expanded the command to teach children the facts of the faith (20–25; see v 7). The child’s question and parent’s response remind us of the pattern for the Passover celebration (Ex. 12:26–28). When the child asks about stipulations, decrees and laws (20) it is interesting that the parent answers by telling how God miraculously rescued the people from Egypt, in fulfilment of the ancient promise (21–23). The commands, then, come after the promise, and are part of God’s intention to bless his people (24b). Righteousness here has the sense of a true relationship between God and his people, and includes not only their keeping his standards, but also his commitment to save and keep them.

McConville, J. G. (1994). Deuteronomy. In D. A. Carson, R. T. France, J. A. Motyer, & G. J. Wenham (Eds.), New Bible commentary: 21st century edition (4th ed., p. 208). Leicester, England; Downers Grove, IL: Inter-Varsity Press.

This passage in Deuteronomy 6 is the fulfillment of the word being pass down thru the generations of time until it is written down in the hearts of all men.

So, it begs to ask, “Is this being done in our christian homes and communities?” Did we ever do this? In my studying of the scriptures, and the history of christianity it seems that the only time that this was even closely followed in thought or deed was the time of the Israelites in their daily reading of the ‘Law’ in the plaza of the temple. Which in turn was retold at the homes of the Israelites that evening. The ‘ritual’ of passing on the scriptures to the next generation is the foundation of knowledge being ingrained into a family, let alone a society that will incorporated a truth to hold on for eternity.

I am on a quest, a long and fulfilling quest to read alot. I am in the process of reading the apocrypha, the Pseudepigrapha, and Josephus. Now if you know anything about these chronicles is that they are long, very long. I am hoping to be finished with all three by the end of next year. That’s how long they are. They are either 1,000 pages long or 2,000 pages long or longer. What a deep and enjoyable journey to be on.

It is on this journey that while reading the Pseudepigrapha, which includes 2Enoch that I have started reading that I come across something that sorta blue my mind about reading the word in the Jewish ways and the lackadaisical effort that we have now in our religious life. This was a standard for God to Israel. But what I came across in 2Enoch is that when God Lifts up Enoch to a very High Standard of People, that He lifted Him up for real to God himself and to Heaven. God was to enlighten him upon everything that was and will be in the realm of God and his creation. It was to be Holy experience for Enoch. God told him of everything, in detail!

It is when God then tells Enoch that what he is to do with this knowledge and wisdom, to let Enoch go down to tell his family of his children and grandchildren and for them to continue the training of their heritage thru the ages. This is starting of the foundation of ‘God’s people’ being designed as there identity in the world. This is also the proclamation that is instituted in the new testament that Christians should claim these ‘laws’ to heart as a testimony to God.

This in my opinion is the downfall of christianity, for this I am always getting crucified but I will stand on it, Christians should stand on their own feet to proclaim their allegiance to God, and by doing this, they stand as a christian, without the overprotecting brick and mortal building and leader to coddle or to tell everyone the next step to christiandom! God’s people are represented not as a individual but as a body of people, a Bride for the coming kingdom. The example of the gathering of ‘the people’ was the bringing all the family of Enoch together to give them the ‘words’ from God. This was the same for Moses sharing the ‘words’ of God from Mt. Sinai down to the people of Israel.

The institution of the building, the Temple, synagogue, church, was the example of ‘where’ God’s being would come down to earth for the ‘still in touch’ with his creation symbolism since the denial of man that God was their God, only man was. It was changed in a instance when the God of man sacrifice’s his Son, for the freeing of man’s sin, to bring him back to his creator. This action by God changes the way God is communing with his people it is not a point on a corner but all of creation(the world),the land that he has promised his people is now God’s and theirs too.

Let us remember these things as we try to commune with Him, He is in Us, and We in Him. Our thinking that we are only with him in a box, is limiting God and us in our journey to the promised land. Let us stand our own and proclaim that God is alive and well in one of his creations and that there others beside us, around town, in the country, in another country, all over the world that as not as a individual but as a body of Christ, the sum of all people create the whole of God’s people.

Let us be responsible and ‘know’ and ‘See’ God in his covenants and his knowledge of Wisdom.
