Tread lightly, my son…

I am a ‘abyie-normal'(reference to a statement in ‘Young Frankenstein’ kind of person. I am always swimming upstream in alot of arena’s. Religion is one of them. I will go up against the norm to challenge it to let it stand up to ‘not persecution’ but to ‘pillars of truth’.

I find it funny and at the same time, sad, that it would come to this but it always what happens when something ‘different’ or ‘new’ to someone when it is challenged to someone’s theology or institution. The ‘log’ that impedes our eyesight is that we not ‘see’ but that we haven’t ‘seen’, because we have been “soundbit’n” for over 500+ years thru the channels of the ‘church’.

Let me expound on this, a Pastor is person that is trying to speak to one small snippet of scripture of a theme, human righteousness, a story, or even a exegesis of a few verses. This paradigm is flawed. It is not using a Corporate Narrative to the Word of God. It(church) cannot ever work this way. The ‘Message’ or ‘Narrative’ cannot be told in a million soundbites over countless Sundays.

I am not sure if it possible to do this with any “Message” to the whole world at a level of this enormous level at a time. But what I do believe that as ‘hearers’ of the Word, or the ‘readers’ of the Word, that we(all) can finally ‘see’ the narrative of God’s story. I believe by starting from the beginning of the story and methodically seeing what God is moving the story along to get to his final scene, that Rest will come to Him.

It is the sincerity of the believers that will bring this mission of uniting all of us to the true Gospel to the World. Reading God’s word with the intent of ‘seeing’ Genesis 1-2 as God’s defining moment of His Kingdom. Realizing that God’s plan for all to be indwelt in the Holy Spirit as is His Son, thus given the title “Sons of God” a reality for all.

My skepticism of the current model is with alot of evidence to this reality of the ‘church'(assembly), one aspect of this would be the fact that the ‘disciples’ have no knowledge of the scriptures after 40+ yrs in the building that was supposed to do this exact thing, learn the word! There seems to be no rhyme or reason of the ‘teaching’ of the word, skipping from here to there in the bible, without any obvious relation to each other. Not realizing that the ‘sole’ issue of the bible starts at the beginning of the narrative, Genesis 1-2, has just been a blind spot from the very beginning of the reformation to now. Although, there seems to be some light shining from this corner, that is gaining some steam to see that this is where the story begins and that it is the Catalyst for the rest of the narrative til the final two chapters in the bible.

It is because we have been down the wrong road from the ‘Y’ intersection that we have missed the wrong message of christianity. It wasn’t about ‘trying’ to get to ‘Heaven’, but it was about having a ‘people’ holy enough to have ‘Heaven’ be on earth as the ‘New Creation’ or the New Kingdom of God.

This concept is now being realized in many of the roads outside the corner church’s, and even in some, it is realized inside the church’s. This is the beginning of what I believe to be the light that will have to be seen not only to the christians inside the building, but also outside in the road’s and highways of the world.

What has really surprised me in all this transfiguration of events is that it was not ‘seen’ sooner. When I have read the bible thru my own studies, I, one, have had problems ‘seeing’ the message that I always was given on sunday morning, there was no evidence of it to be seen. Secondly, I was seeing in plain site the real eternal purpose of God in front of me in the scriptures. Which leads me to another interesting observance of God.

Thru my studying and my involvement with other bible enthusiasts, I have had many ‘words’ used to describe things in the bible. One, being ‘hardened’, which was used in another topical discussion. But it got to me in thinking about it and the usage in the bible, especially in the Old Testament, it was used quite frequently for different times that God was having to deal with individual people or an entity of a group. I believe that God ‘hardened’ Israel to not ‘see’ their Messiah(Jesus) during a prolonged time until it was to be a ‘eye opening’ moment for the Whole World to observe in an Act of God to Showcase His Son, the Savior of the World!!

It is at this time, that the World will come to Him(thru Israel) the servant King to unite all(Israel,Gentile) to come and bow down to the God of All!!

Life after Death

I am sitting on my patio tonight, in a swing with my feet up, and just relaxing and enjoying the best day of ‘spring’ of the Colorado season. We have had some un-springlike weather thru this early spring, so our spring like duty of bringing in those bright and colorful flowers that you are obligated to put out from your friendly box store of flowers has not come yet.

The only thing that has so-called life in our yard are the Perennials of the shrubbery or the ‘wild’ flowers in our yard. Which if you think about it seems rather amazing that these flowers and shrubs could die and then come back to life, is nothing short of a miracle. I looked at these plants during our ‘winter’ and I am sure that they were dead, they had no life, they were not what they were designed to be or show in their fullest glory. They were dead.

So how did they ‘become’ alive again? What happened during that season of death? What was happening to make it ‘dead’? But happened under the soil that would spurn on the ingredients of bringing something back to life? Did it do something on its own? Did someone come along and do something to revive it? Or was it something bigger that happened that only He could only do to bring life back from the grave?

Oh Yeah, the Creator, the maker, the Gardener, The Man upstairs, My God, My Lord and Savior. All things are possible. God brings back life to the things that I see every year, all our trees lose their leaves in the fall, but they come back to life in the spring with bigger and better life of leaves.

Now I don’t know how those trees, flowers, shrubs, or wild things were in their age of sprouting or dying, whether they were trying to be what they were designed to do or not, but they came back to life, either way that they acted. God gave them life every spring for 25 yrs.

Life comes After death.

Always.

Oh, How shall we live?

This seems to be a question that is always asked from the beginning of the resurrection of Jesus time. What do we do now?

Man has been asking questions, theorizing the who’s and what for’s ever since. I for once believe that there was a reason for this.

It is almost like when something happens to us in our lives, and we ask why did that happen? We will let it ponder in us to ‘blame’,or reason on why it could of happen to us. It is a monumental moment to find what the reason was to the incident to us. It could be days, months,or years before the logical understanding of why ‘it’ happened.

I believe this is what happened to the believers of the ‘way’ and their Messiah. What was the reason for Christ’s dying on a cross, and then rising up out of a grave and coming to life and showing his humanness to his followers.

If there was one question, there was a thousand questions to be asked.

Followers of the ‘Messiah’ were perplexed and bewildered of what to do or say in there Savior’s death and then a amazing resurrection. Why did Jesus die? Why did He arise? Even Jesus’s disciples were in awe to what it meant.

It seems that we are still asking these things to ourselves and to others. Our reasoning of the situation, has baffled us even with the theologians and their exegesis of the scriptures. It is this that we need to bring in the context of the times and what it meant for them.

Rom 12:1

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Unchecked Copy Box Rom 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

These two verses in Romans is a strong hint in what we are to do because of Jesus’s death and resurrection for all believers. This Apoplectic event was a ‘life’ changing moment in the life of mankind. It was/is a life changing alternative that will effect us all.

These verses, if we look close at them, will give us hints of what changed because of Christ’s death and resurrection. These two verses have the influence of the old covenant’s example to be used as a blueprint for the new.

Let’s start first with the middle of the first verse, “to present your bodies a living and Holy sacrifice,”, the ‘concept’ of a sacrifice is one used for the people to give in the old covenant was for their daily forgiveness of their transgressions. The bulls, lambs, goats were the sacrifices that were used then to accomplice this task. Christ was the ‘High Priest’ that gave ‘His’ own sacrifice as one that was the ‘High Priest’ in the Temple, giving a sacrifice for Israel’s whole nation. It is in ‘this’ sacrifice that has led to what our next step is to be. Christ’s example for us to follow as it was in the covenant of old.

This is to be the Holy and ‘acceptable’ vocation for us to follow. This ‘way’ is to be our daily spiritual Worship. It is not anymore to be a one of a human way to ‘sacrifice’ animals for our transgressions, but one of ‘our’ living the life of a ‘Holy’ one, We are now ‘white’,blemish free,Holy, as ‘like’ if we were Holy enough to go into the Holy of Holies. As if maybe we were now, a ‘Priestly’ one to be considered.

Spiritual Service of Worship. This tale statement at the end of verse one is one completing the thought. This small but powerful thought is also a ‘new’ vocation. This is changing of the ways of worship from the bringing the ‘animal sacrifices’, to actually ‘being’ the sacrifice in our ‘living’ as one that is truly ‘Holy’ and righteous, and a representative of Christ.

What this means, is somewhat hard to ‘see’ because we have been stuck in our ways. We are still in our ‘old’ ways of the old covenant. Our ‘worship’ has been hijacked into the believing that our ‘worship’ is still confined to the inside of a temple! Our vocation was and is to be a light among the darkness into the whole world.

Which brings us to the 2nd verse that I believe is the most troubling one that we have failed to utilize in our journey of Christ. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” We have not been transformed by the renewing of our minds! It is this that is not completing the union with Christ and his body. Our minds have not been ‘changed’ into that believing and ‘knowing’ God’s eternal purpose of his body. We are not transformed into ‘knowing’ Christ’s body and it’s function. The function of the body of Christ is intertwined together with the Head. It is made up of the same ‘Spirit’ and eternal purpose that God instituted.

The ‘will’ of God is not for the human way but for the Spirit led way of God. This an important thing to remember in our vocation, it is not in our humanly ways but in God’s New Kingdom it is God’s Spirit that drives our Lives.

We are not to put ‘New Wine’ into Old skins for it will only tear the old one apart!(paraphrased)

Is this what we are doing in Christianity?

Is the Body still under the curse?

What Curse?

The curse is one that starts from the old covenant. The old covenant states from God that –

Gal 3:1For all who are of works of the Law are under a curse; for it is written: “CURSED IS EVERYONE WHO DOES NOT ABIDE BY ALL THE THINGS WRITTEN IN THE BOOK OF THE LAW, TO DO THEM.”.

This verse is loaded. Let’s start with the fact that the curse was instituted by the old testament. But why? It was cursed because the law was insufficient in bringing salvation for the Israelites. The ‘system’ was not to bring saving qualities but to actually bring out the inabilities of man to live up to the law’s demand.

This inability to overcome the law is a reality check for not only God’s people but for all of mankind to realize that their efforts would not conquer the law. The issue was not one of the ‘righteous’ but it was also for all the world to fight.

But for the ‘righteous’ this should be a clue that ‘any’ aspect of the old covenant that is being used is still in the ‘curse’. Concentrating on something that is in the old covenant shields you from being free, and more importantly, blocking you from being ‘in the Spirit’.

My fear is that this is exactly what is happening with the body of Christ in its way of life. The body is stuck in it’s understanding of what it means to ‘live under Grace’. Man cannot serve two masters, the law or God?

To be Holy we must be in whole communion with God, and not sticking our toe into the world of man made religion. If we are to be a Holy Body for God, we must be wholly in his Spirit and wholly in his ways. What does this mean?

First, we must define, or realize what the meaning of the old covenant represents to us. It is the works of mankind to satisfying of the ‘debt’ to God for our in-digression as a people. But it is God that says man cannot fulfill this demand, therefore it is a curse. It is when God came down in the form of his son to fulfill this demand of earthly commandments. It has been finished, it has been finished in that one man(Jesus) slash God fulfilled this demand that the old covenant brought to Israel the people of God. Thus, understanding that man alone would not be able to accomplish the law in its design. It would only be by a Holy and righteous being to do this. Now, the old covenant, the law being fulfilled, a new one would have to be implemented for God’s people and for now the whole world to enjoy and fulfill. A New Covenant, a New way to be in communion with God.

God’s New Kingdom is that which is free from anything of man, for man’s way is tainted in his ways, but now God’s saving Grace has made it an level playing field with the Garden of Eden in sight.

So, what ‘old’ things must christianity leave behind to be in that ‘Holy’ communion with God?

You tell me!

Chaos, Light

The first two verses of Genesis are usually are just read over without any understanding of theologically ramifications. It seems that we only ‘see’ the first verse as ‘God created the heavens and the earth’. It is the second verse(which ironically a key to other theological issues down the road-#2) “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.”

Let’s bring in verse 1, to see something else. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God is a powerful God. God creates things. He creates things for His pleasure. His desire is to have fellowship with the trinity(Father,Son,Holy Spirit) but also of a creation that He is ‘well pleased’ in the making. This is evident in the making of the earth, in that in each step he took, God says that it was ‘good’. Everything that God made was ‘good’ in his eyes, this was his standard.

Now, let’s go back to verse 2 and continue the story and proclamations of it. The ‘earth was without form’, I don’t think anybody really knows what this looked like, but we know it didn’t look like anything we have now as what we see the earth from afar. But just to say it was without form, is to say it wasn’t organized or planned in any way. “The earth was without void”, it was ‘nothing’. Nothing to speak about.

And to add the last of verse 2 is “the darkness was upon the face of the deep”, so, just like the earth, the face of the deep was dark, or without ‘light’. Finally, ” and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters”. Now we must realize in this segment, the ‘waters’ of the earth had not been formed yet. This waters was the upcoming waters to be created. But let’s backup a minute, and look at this even more to what this is.

We all know that ‘hindsight is 20/20′, but in this case foresight is 20/20’, you see we have read the scriptures and know what has been said about various things of what things represent in God’s world and actions of Him or His Son. There is meaning to everything. “Water” is used in a few different ways. It is said to be “Bad”,”Evil”,”Dark” or it is also said to be “Good”,”Spiritual”,Or “Light”. In this instance it is an connotation that the ‘waters’ are ‘dark’, or evil. But it is in transition, because the Spirit of the Lord was moving over it give it the ‘Good’ or ‘Light’ quality that it needed coming from the darkness.

Our knowing when things are in the dark or in the light is a main concept of the Word of God. It is used in the old and the new testament. Another concept that is used throughout the bible is the one of ‘Life’ and ‘Death’, This is in conjunction with the darkness and light theme in the scriptures. As we can see just from these two examples the topics are opposites from each other. It is a either or picture. These are the themes that are re-occurring in the scriptures that are important for us to use in our overall emphasis of God’s desire of having The Kingdom of Heaven.

LIFE

Do we not understand what LIFE is?

A very simple explanation of life is it is the opposite of death! Now what is death? Are automatic response is the physical death of our body. We need to understand that this is also in relationship to our spiritualness in our Spirit.

When we chose the tree of the “knowledge of Good and Evil”  this was the choice of the opposite of “the tree of Life”, so by default the tree of “knowledge of Good and Evil” is death. God’s tree of Life is one that is designed for God’s creation, man and his creator.

Man’s desire to control his ‘life’ was never intended. The creation is never greater than the creator. God’s design was to ‘live’,commune, with his creation. Mankind is ‘King’. We are in charge of our realm, we are all knowing, we can fix it, make it better and or great, we can salvage what ever comes up when something goes wrong.

Are we missing something? What does ‘life’ mean? Is it temporary, is it forever, eternal? What is it? Does it depend on us, or does it come from outside us? The word ‘Life’ is used in our society as a measuring stick to differentiate between ‘being’ or ‘death’. Could this be the issue? Has our notion that our ‘life’ is just ‘being’ that is what it is all about? Or is it that we are not ‘dead’ that what we are?

Generations have struggled to define or ‘know’ what life was in their religious or secular world. It’s that uncertainty or that just aloofness of mankind that we can figure it out one day that we just don’t worry about it.

It could be that mankind has substituted that ‘life’ with idols of our realm that we have made for ourselves that we strive for everyday in every way. We have made them our ‘life’. It is what we are always striving for, every day for all our lives, until our death is in sight, then we ‘see’ what we thought was ‘life’ was not ‘life’ but ‘death’, in that it had captured us and had us in  it’s grip. We weren’t experiencing ‘life’, we are a slave to our creation of idols, death, something that is opposite that we were striving for.

So, where do you we go from here? Maybe we need to realize what the meaning of ‘Death’ is?

Does Kingdom theology answer the theology of the Jews?

There is a difference of opinion of the jewish world and of the christian world in the eschatology of both. It has a few reasons why the jewish world has denied the christian eschatology, one has been the notion of dieing in this world and proceed to heaven for all the good people, and the bad, well, you know, hell.

The Kingdom of God theology, that is being now preached in various forms of avenues to christians has a different scenario for all of us. It is the storyline of God creating a world, for his creation’s, to work along side of everything He created, with God walking with us. It was when mankind, saw that He could run it by himself, without the creator in any shape or form. It was a ‘make the world and just leave it to us’ kind of scenario for mankind.

But God had a twist to this storyline, He being the God that He was, was not leaving totally to the story, He was to be involved in various things to maybe show the bad, and good things of the ‘mankind experiment’ until God’s involvement in bringing His people back around to Him. Abraham was the beginning of Gods retaking his world from mankind.

God showing the world that his only son, was the model of God’s ‘New World’ of his Kingdom is born when Jesus conquered the ‘Death’ of Mankind, that was holding it back from achieving the ultimate goal of God’s perfect example of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.

God’s Kingdom is alive! It is being lived out in yours and my life that is progressing to the ultimate reality that is described in Revelation 20-21 of the New Testament.

Heaven(God’s government) is now with the world of his people, He is now all in all!

This is a very, very short storyline of what I could actually describe to you but if you desire more explained or just a question of something, I will return a answer, I hope.

Something to think about, it does connect some puzzle pieces tho!

Die

Ah ha moment!!!

Do you sometimes wonder why you didn’t put things together reading something all these years?

The story, the scriptures, the bible, the word, is a big vast wealth of knowledge of God and his eternal purpose.

It is almost like a connect the dots to God’s plan that we must ‘see’to understand it all. This is  actually what God said to all his followers and to the pharasee’s , that one must ‘hear’ what Jesus was saying to them to know his purpose.

One such hearing moment starts in Gen 3.2-5 when eve is being challenged by satan on what God actually said to adam and eve in the garden.

It was in verse 4 that satan reiterates that what God said was not actually true of what would happen to them if they did not follow God’s way. It was the emphasis on what the result would be……………..die!!

Now, we can start with a passage in Isaiah 25.7-9 to understand the story of death and it’s mission of God.(there are other references to go by, but this one is a sign from Isaiah that this was to come to his people)

7. And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all people, the veil that is spread over all nations. 8. He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. 9. It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God, we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord;we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

Notice the italicised parts of the passage, this is what the ‘death’ is all about, who it is for, what the solution is for, and who will solve it.

The new testament story line continues this line (from the prophets) of the thought from God, his bringing hope and salvation from death. How he starts this journey is by bring his son to fulfill the perfect example of himself, to overcome, and defeat this thing called ‘death’.

It is then that the life of Jesus, ministry, and message that was used as an example of ‘Life’ as it was meant to be like, God gave to his son,Jesus.

It is also the ‘end’ of his son’s life that was to be the ‘message’ for his creation, ‘his people’ to be shown that this ‘death’ thing can and will be beaten.

Resurrection that morning ,when it was beaten back to the grave where it was to stay was not the end, but the beginning.

It was the ‘new creation’, the eternal purpose of God.

His ‘people’, His ‘Life’.

Image

planet-earth-1401465793UfsGenesis 1.26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our own image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

“Imatation is the Greatest form of flattery”!!

Do you see what God has done?

His image was duplicated and put on earth to be set as an example of Himself, of who he was, what he was, and why he was. We are his spitting image of himself to be seen as the creator, the designer, the caretaker, and the representation of all mankind.

We are the model. the representative, The Adam, of God.

We are to just BE  the image. that’s it. period.

Do you understand? This was God’s design. Nothing else is to be done, nothing to be said, nothing, nothing for us to do.

God has taken it upon himself to set things right.

Let me take this for ride that you might not see, in the scriptures, God’s desire is not only to rid the cause of the fall(sin) but also of the punishment that was given out to mankind. (This is very relevent, and most of the time not addressed in discussions of the resurrection of Jesus) something to think about. God’s desire was to  kill two birds with one stone, to use the old adage. God would send his son to represent the  sinless of man, to die for its repercussion of the act, but to the unsuspecting world he not only goes thru death but he comes out the other side to conquer it thru the resurrection of Jesus.

Now, with the crime(sin) and the punishment(death) being taken care of, it is now in short, a new creation(LIFE) without the baggage as before. It is now the true ‘image’ of God on his ‘land’ and his ‘kingdom’.

“It is Finished” John 19:30

Nature

I want to go back to a similar post that I wrote maybe a year ago, where we looked at the scenario of Man in the garden of eden looking at two trees and picking which nature that He wanted.

If we as man can understand the huge implications of this decision of ours we then can go back and understand what we did wrong, or even know what the real identity we were supposed to be. I wonder if Adam really understood the underlining path that his decision would take him.

It has all boiled down to “nature”. No, it isn’t the surroundings that Adam was in. The garden of eden was the most extravagant garden that God could of designed for anyone to live in. It had everything, it was the ultimate man cave!! God thought of everything. There was the beauty to the eye, their was substance, food to live on, for this was what adam thought that life was all about. The food that he did pick was good to the eye, and then to the taste. There was also entertainment for man, animals beyond your imagination to care for and to watch. There was also the heavens to look at while man was resting while laying down in the garden, what a panoramic view it must have been to see the universe from its beginning. But this is not the nature I am talking about.

The nature that was to be chosen that day was of “man’s” or “God’s” nature.

Do you realize that this decision was simply to say “Do you want life or death”.

For adam to make this decision was not a simple one but a very influential one that he maybe didn’t understand fully.

We need to stop here and truly understand at what a pivotal and deep message that is being brought to us by God.

God’s message to us was simply Life or death, it was a condition that would “come “ to us in whatever we choose. If our decision was to be the “tree of knowledge of good and evil” it would bring death. If we chose the “tree of Life” we would have life “come”to us.

Our result of choosing the tree of knowledge of good and evil has brought us death but also all the precursors of death to us in the pain and agony of death in the absence of life.

But although we as man have made the worst decision of mankind, God still wants us to have “life”. This could be where the term “give him a second chance” came from. Let man choose again.

We need to view this pinnacle of the bible as the key to God’s eternal purpose to us. It is not the fact we as His people need to know that we have sinned, and need to repent, and to share this revelation to everyone we know.

It is the decision of Life(Christ) that we must answer. We (This is a singular plural word) meaning God’s people, children of Israel, christians. This is also a sticking point that we need to understand better, in context of this moment. You see in whatever decision that was/is made it will be passed on from generation to generation to generation.

It’s simple: Death begets Death, and Life begets Life.

What we have to know is that Christ’s dying on the cross for us(same as before, singular plural word) was to kill death,do away with it,capture it,overcome it and subdue it. The end. This was a means to the end of death. This should not be construed as the main point in understanding of the bible but as the way to LIFE.

Let us all go back and now chose Life!!
