Oh, How shall we live?

This seems to be a question that is always asked from the beginning of the resurrection of Jesus time. What do we do now?

Man has been asking questions, theorizing the who’s and what for’s ever since. I for once believe that there was a reason for this.

It is almost like when something happens to us in our lives, and we ask why did that happen? We will let it ponder in us to ‘blame’,or reason on why it could of happen to us. It is a monumental moment to find what the reason was to the incident to us. It could be days, months,or years before the logical understanding of why ‘it’ happened.

I believe this is what happened to the believers of the ‘way’ and their Messiah. What was the reason for Christ’s dying on a cross, and then rising up out of a grave and coming to life and showing his humanness to his followers.

If there was one question, there was a thousand questions to be asked.

Followers of the ‘Messiah’ were perplexed and bewildered of what to do or say in there Savior’s death and then a amazing resurrection. Why did Jesus die? Why did He arise? Even Jesus’s disciples were in awe to what it meant.

It seems that we are still asking these things to ourselves and to others. Our reasoning of the situation, has baffled us even with the theologians and their exegesis of the scriptures. It is this that we need to bring in the context of the times and what it meant for them.

Rom 12:1

Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

Unchecked Copy Box Rom 12:2

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

These two verses in Romans is a strong hint in what we are to do because of Jesus’s death and resurrection for all believers. This Apoplectic event was a ‘life’ changing moment in the life of mankind. It was/is a life changing alternative that will effect us all.

These verses, if we look close at them, will give us hints of what changed because of Christ’s death and resurrection. These two verses have the influence of the old covenant’s example to be used as a blueprint for the new.

Let’s start first with the middle of the first verse, “to present your bodies a living and Holy sacrifice,”, the ‘concept’ of a sacrifice is one used for the people to give in the old covenant was for their daily forgiveness of their transgressions. The bulls, lambs, goats were the sacrifices that were used then to accomplice this task. Christ was the ‘High Priest’ that gave ‘His’ own sacrifice as one that was the ‘High Priest’ in the Temple, giving a sacrifice for Israel’s whole nation. It is in ‘this’ sacrifice that has led to what our next step is to be. Christ’s example for us to follow as it was in the covenant of old.

This is to be the Holy and ‘acceptable’ vocation for us to follow. This ‘way’ is to be our daily spiritual Worship. It is not anymore to be a one of a human way to ‘sacrifice’ animals for our transgressions, but one of ‘our’ living the life of a ‘Holy’ one, We are now ‘white’,blemish free,Holy, as ‘like’ if we were Holy enough to go into the Holy of Holies. As if maybe we were now, a ‘Priestly’ one to be considered.

Spiritual Service of Worship. This tale statement at the end of verse one is one completing the thought. This small but powerful thought is also a ‘new’ vocation. This is changing of the ways of worship from the bringing the ‘animal sacrifices’, to actually ‘being’ the sacrifice in our ‘living’ as one that is truly ‘Holy’ and righteous, and a representative of Christ.

What this means, is somewhat hard to ‘see’ because we have been stuck in our ways. We are still in our ‘old’ ways of the old covenant. Our ‘worship’ has been hijacked into the believing that our ‘worship’ is still confined to the inside of a temple! Our vocation was and is to be a light among the darkness into the whole world.

Which brings us to the 2nd verse that I believe is the most troubling one that we have failed to utilize in our journey of Christ. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.” We have not been transformed by the renewing of our minds! It is this that is not completing the union with Christ and his body. Our minds have not been ‘changed’ into that believing and ‘knowing’ God’s eternal purpose of his body. We are not transformed into ‘knowing’ Christ’s body and it’s function. The function of the body of Christ is intertwined together with the Head. It is made up of the same ‘Spirit’ and eternal purpose that God instituted.

The ‘will’ of God is not for the human way but for the Spirit led way of God. This an important thing to remember in our vocation, it is not in our humanly ways but in God’s New Kingdom it is God’s Spirit that drives our Lives.

We are not to put ‘New Wine’ into Old skins for it will only tear the old one apart!(paraphrased)

Is this what we are doing in Christianity?

Following the signs

As in the real world we need signs to get us where we want to go.

It is the same for us in the following of God’s plan for us in His eternal purpose.

God has designed his plan with specific wonders and detail. God uses his son to achieve his goal to rein in his creation. The embryo of his people the Israelite’s, was the beginning of this journey. God’s people, the people of the land of Canaan, was the ideal of God’s people in the sense that He was their God, and they were God’s people. This was the simplicity of His Kingdom.

Israel was connected to God by the institution of a Temple and it’s ways. The institution of precise rules and regulations thru a mediator of a High Priest connecting them to God. It was a institution that could not be followed by the people of Israel, or any man. It was a model that couldn’t be fulfilled to God. Man was unable to follow the law, the law of man or God.

But it wasn’t true of God or his Son, Jesus Christ. Christ being man and of God, was the perfect symbol of what one was to fulfill God’s ways came on the scene to be the example of the ‘One’ to be a follower of God. If we are really understanding of God’s ways and wonders, We will ‘see’ what God was telling us in this example of allegiance.

Man is incapable of following God, by himself. It is when we allow God to be apart of Him, and Him in Us that we are able to be with our creator. This was the example that Jesus set for us, He was of his Father, yet he was of just a man of the world. His showing us that it is possible to be with our creator and also be in the kingdom that He created for us, should be more enough to prove that He is God of all His People.

I bring these points out to show us that it is this scenario that has changed the blueprint of the New Testament(I prefer to use the New Covenant most of the time, but use it here to emphasize that it is in the N.T. that this is what is being said) God is telling us that the institution of the old covenant is over, the New one is not the one of a high priest in a temple in Jerusalem, but that ‘We'(all people) are now the High Priests of the Temple(the World). This is the exact picture we see in Genesis 1-2, and also the reality of this ‘not yet’ that is told to us in Revelation 21-22.

This is the sticking point of christianity that has stifled the ‘ekklesia’ of God. We are still imitating the model of the institution in Jerusalem as we go to the ‘High Priest’ or ‘Pastor’, or ‘Pope’, or ‘Rabbi’ to ‘try’ to get to God. This is just WRONG. God has given us the example to ‘come’ to Him in the reality of Him in us and us in Him. It’s just that simple.

God’s ‘Ekklesia’ will not be the ‘Ekklesia’ not only until we ‘see’ this but until we are actually in Him, and He is in Us!

Shall we strive to be the Ekklesia today!

God’s Garden

Gardening can be fun and exciting with either gorgeous flowers or abundance of fruits and vegetables. But it all depends on how consistent or diligent you are with your garden.

The vegetable garden has been my forte  of the last few years, trying to grow as much vegetables as I can to fill our stomachs with over the summer. I have good years with it and I have had some terrible years with it.With the bad years,it seems that I was doomed before I got started, either I started to late to plant or my plants were to small and weak to take the thunderstorms in april or may that I was doomed for any good crops that year. Some years I didn’t have the time to really put into it like I should of to see any good results. Weeds are your enemy, not enough water, to much sun, bugs, all can change things real fast for a vegetable gardener

On the other hand, if my time was devoted to my garden with the love and affection of what it actually represents, food, I would put more of myself into my care for the garden. I would nourish it with fertilizer, sunshine or no sunshine depending on the crop, protection from different elements, rain or hail. The most important element of all these things is the daily watering of the crops. It seems that there could be a better method of my watering these plants than to come along and pour some water on each one of these, or maybe just spray all these plants with a long garden hose, or maybe yet what about using a sprinkler for it every day.

But wait. There is another way. Do you know what it is? It may be obvious but we don’t use it.

God’s garden in the Garden of Eden, used the daily continuous injecting method of an underground feeding of that ever flowing river of Life!.

Just imagine the picture of this in your mind,It was the Garden of Eden, there was two trees there that were there for your choice. One tree, although it might of looked good at first with the fruit that was good to the sight and taste, had no sustaining power in it’s longevity, you see once the fruit was eaten, there was no more fruit. This tree of the “knowledge of good and evil” was not ever meant to be a sustaining tree.

The “Tree of Life” on the other hand was  meant to last forever and ever, or to put it another way——-Eternal Life!

This tree as described was feed by a river that separated into four rivers in Genesis 2:10. This lone river was solely for this tree of life in the garden of eden. This tree was being nourished by the this sole river it was designed to create life and sustain it. It had a purpose.

The designer of the world and the earth did not create just for sake of creating, He had a plan or a goal. Since God was the designer of this garden, he was the stars, planets, heavens, sun, moon, animals, plants, trees, and the waters.

God was the river.

Let this sink in for a few minutes, this such an amazing picture to behold if we can see it! It is to bad that Adam did not see it as an understanding of which tree to pick.

The one with no sustaining power or the tree that had forever and ever life more abundant, or eternal life.

This is called eternal life. Jesus Christ, the one that gives eternal life.

Let me add this to the this thought of the sustaining river of God, Look up Revelations 21:1-3 and see what it says about the New City of Jerusalem that God created for us to be with him.

It might just make you think again about this gardener and irrigation system!

Not of this world

There is tshirt company that is called ‘Not of this World “and is  sold in alot of christian bookstores also known in short as NOTW. I have this as one of my stickers on my car, it is a good conversation starter if someone asks me.

I have really been amazed the last few years in watching and listening to christianity and to their leaders that their dialogue to the christians  are preaching the wrong message. We need to re-evaluate of understanding of what Jesus Christ(My use of particular uses of God’s names are significant in that I will use Jesus as when He was on earth for the 33 plus years and Jesus Christ after His Resurrection title, but all could be substituted at anytime as God or the Holy Spirit.) was trying to show us to see.

He was not trying to write a book by the way he lived in his earthly living to be produced later, the bible. It was a story about people that had seen God. Many of the old testament leaders “seen” Christ and then was being led by Him in His being. One such instance was of Moses, He actually didn’t physically see Him but He did feel His presence and being. The one person that I believe that actually did see Christ was Peter, His mind and spirit knew who Christ was because His spirit was with him and in him.

I think that the movie “Avatar” brings up this very message in the scene where the main character is in the “other world” and is being lead in the ways of the “other world”by one of their people, she tells him that to really know her is to “see her”.

This topic has come up one other time since I have seen the movie and it was used in the same way, we need to really know God to really “see Him”. This is has really affected the way that I walk in my daily life.

The  underlining current of this message is that we taking instructions from so many areas of our life that is giving us “how to’s” do this life when in fact,Christ is wanting us to live in “His world”(kingdom),now! We cannot be listening to the usual sermons or conferences that tell us that they have the 12 step program to christianity and all they have to do is the steps accordingly and then share it with 10 other people. No,no,no. Do we realize that this is the same thing that Israel was doing and is still doing to try and “See Him”. He has shown us that to really be a part of this Kingdom,as Israel wanted to be in, That we had to be in Heavenly realm as the Kingdom of God.

This is shown in the passage of 1 Corinthians 3:16,then in 2 Corinthians 6:16 it expands the explanation of it. When Jesus was here on earth and was being beaten and abused by the Romans, His statement to King Herod was  that “yes, He was a King, but not of this World!

If we are to be living in this kingdom, the Kingdom of God, we must be in Christ,to be apart of it. We must not kid ourselves into thinking that the things that we do in this physical world is the way to go, but to embrace Christ and to live thru Him,and with Him as our “not of this World” experience.
