In principle, the same

The old covenant and the new covenant are the same in principle, but different in practice.

My take on this principle of the scriptures, is that we are still stuck on the old covenant practices.

Let’s just take a look at it and see if we are right?

Food practices of the old covenant were such that specific food was not on the menu of the Jewish table’s. Certain food was considered to be unclean for consumption considering where or how the animal lived, this was in accordance with the lifestyle of Jewish people to be ‘Holy’,clean in every way. The life of Israel was to be spotless in every way, outside and inside it’s people. It isn’t until Peter was shown a ‘revelation’ by God that all things are good to eat, because they were made good from the beginning of time with Adam and Eve. A marker.

The visible things of the Jewish ‘Holiness’ was the most relevant for the world to see, but it was the outward appearance of the people of Jewish people by their circumcision of the men that was different. This was one thing that was always the tell tale sign of the ‘Godly’ people, was their signature sign that they belonged to God. It was to them and to anyone else you believed that their God could be also theirs, would have to be circumcised too. A marker.

It is when we bring up the third marker for the Jews that seems to have really stuck with us in its reality into the new covenant, that has hampered us into the full eternal purpose that God has for us. That is the physical, literal place of where God is! God set up a Garden of Eden to start his kingdom, with man and the Creator together in one spot. It was the World, the Universe, the exact place where man and God could commune together. It was Paradise.

But this changed, when man shunned God in the garden, to which God left man to his own abilities, and wisdom to run God’s world. God was still in charge but let man to his own ways. (For results of this just look at history,or today!) God chose a people(Jews) that would be Holy, just as their God was Holy, to be like Him. It was set up in the beginning to have ‘His’ people together as a community with the center of it a place for God to commune with His people. alas, The Temple. Only a High Priest would be able to go into the Holy of Hollies to ‘be’ with God. It was a temporary arrangement, with its full effect to become back to ultimate desire of Garden of Eden. But this arrangement was to strengthen the people of God to become Holy by a ‘written word’ of God to follow. This seemed to be harder than it looked, because the people strayed from their God, to worship other gods to their delight. Man’s desire to be free from restraints continued to rebel against their God, not being able to follow God’s words. This achievement for man to follow God’s laws would be deemed to be impossible to follow because of man’s ‘wisdom’ of his to not follow God.

God’s abundance of Love and Grace has changed the old covenant, to include the reality that God is everywhere (not just a building or a temple), But is more to the point He is everywhere, because He is ‘in’ all of His creation, mankind.

It is because of this that God saw fit for him to redeem ‘His’ people for their inability to follow God by way of His laws, and to now also include everyone else in the world to be included to be redeemed. The Jews being redeemed and also the ‘Gentiles'(all of the creation) would now be in a new covenant, with the same principles but with different outside and inside parameters.

God has subdued the stumbling block for the Jews, and the abundance of Mercy for all mankind to be ‘In’ Christ, and for ‘Christ’ in Us. We are ‘in’ One. As was the beginning. As will be the End of Time. See Revelation 21-22. This is the storyline that God has laid out for us to see!

The scriptures were not written ‘to’ us,but for us.

Learning is a funny thing that we struggle with in our normal daily lives. We all do it differently, it seems by how we ascertain information in our brains to keep the good and the bad things of importance. Some information is retained by the ‘seeing’ of the actual information and some is actually retained by hearing the conversation.

The scriptures, alas the ‘Bible’, is a collection of history, personal testimony, revelations, commentary and Holy Scripture from God himself. There is a journey of a people, the Jews of Israel and all their trials and errors trying to be a Holy nation following God. This journey is filled with good and bad things in their existence of a nation. But it is in the bad we must ‘see’ and ‘know’ the reason behind the failure of all people, not just the Jews at this time.

The scriptures were in the old testament(covenant) were a detailed covenant between the Jewish people and their God to work together as one entity. God established his Kingdom among them in the land that he established and they became his people to be united with. It is in this covenant that strict things that were instituted for man, for the Jewish people were selected to be the light unto the world, for when light is shown in a darkened world it does two things. One, it conceals the things that are still in the dark area, which is where the evil is hiding. Secondly, The light is an attraction where everyone should !move to, to see where they are going without darkness hindering them to stumble and fall.

The downfall for Israel( Jewish People) was that they were tainted by darkness in alot of their lives, by actually moving to the ‘dark side’! lol Mankind has struggled in their quest to be ‘good’, their knowledge of good and evil, has led them down the wrong road, in their own understanding. This choice of ‘which God to serve or ‘worship’ has been the downfall of mankind ever since. God is the creator. His work is the definition of Good, He defines it specifically in Genesis 1-2. Everything that created from the Universe down to all the things in the planet that we live on was pronounced as Good. Even the Days were announced as ‘Good’. This was proclaimed so that we might realize that everything was for our benefit of knowledge of God’s handiwork.

God’s creation was good. Yet mankind did, and has put their own definition of what is good in their ‘eyes’ for them to live by. But it is when we deviate from the blueprint of what has been defined by ‘good’ and set our own definition of good, is when it becomes skewed in reasoning. We have spun the meaning of good to our own tastes for centuries, and we have had to live with our definition of good, with catastrophic results on the whole of mankind, not just on our individual selves, which is where we have actually defined the word, as the good for ‘me’. This seems to be really bringing this concept to the forefront to our society in the #metoo movement, it’s all about me and my wants.

With this knowledge of the past behind us in the story of the creation by the creator and our God, we should see that we as mankind cannot set the definition of ‘good’ until we see the root of the word, which was set by God himself, with understanding that only thru God can we be ‘good’. God sets the definitions, not his creations.

The question then is “When will mankind ‘see’ and understand this”?

We shall see, but I hope and pray that it is sooner than later because our definition of ‘good’ really sucks!

Say it isn’t so!

This ‘kingdom’ has got us wrapped around its little finger and we don’t even know it, or worse we don’t care!

There is this ‘just another day’ of life, and whatever it is that I must do to get thru it I will. There is even this notion that I must ‘better’ myself that I can make it easier on myself or get ahead that it is the right thing to do. Are we playing their rules or God’s? What does it say to our teammates or our adversaries? They are probably as confused as we are? We have to play the game. And we have to win! Where will it end, and when?

This kingdom that has got us is the one that has been around since it was created by ‘us’ the smart ones(the ones that said we could handle making the rules, and say who is in charge) starting with Adam and Eve and still continuing  with ‘us’.

The good things have been good, we can create our own good, our own way,our own time. That is in our own thinking, according to our individualist way, to each our own! LOL, look where this has got us, we believe we can and will create our own ‘good’, it should be respected by all that are around us and beyond. It is my right. But wait, it now can offend someone? And it is not alright, say it isn’t so. ha ha. Have we now created a conundrum all by our selves? We have created confusion all amongst ourselves, just in the name of us wanting to ‘set’ the rules of our ‘kingdom’.

Now, the bad. Where does one start? I’ll just let you fill in the blanks, the fact that you can fill in the blanks, should tell us something! But yet we still do it?

I almost feel that this encapsulating feeling is that it is the only game in town to be in to play. But why. For some of us, it should be seen as a insult. We know better.

Christianity has and is playing the same game! Why? …………….     I think I know, and it isn’t going to go over very well.

You see it is for the same reason  that God told all of God’s people of the old testament, it is for your ‘good’ that you seen as  the ‘good’ people of God and to be looked at as “My People” said God. It is to be that ‘they’ will ‘see’ who you are and believe that “I am your God”.  God told his believers that ‘He will make his people’, it would be in his own way and time. It was told to the Jews that they should not mix with their neighbors, because of the influence that they would have on them.  Their ways, their gods, their practices, and their rituals were the dirt to the white robes of the Israelites.

It is for this reason that it has evident that this is what has taken place to christianity. In our quest to welcome our neighbor to our family we have also welcomed the dirt of that neighbor in with it. It is when we welcome in the one that is family into our family that is unique and right to be apart of that family that we see that it belongs without hesitation that we can be white and pure in the truest sense.

Our ‘being’ Christlike  ‘is’ the attraction that everyone will see that we are christians, or to be more succinct, They(non-believers) will come to be in Him by ‘our being like Him’.

So, let’s don’t say: Say it isn’t so, that we(christians) are just like everybody else!

Let’s be different! Let’s be not of this world, kingdom but let us be of God’s kingdom and be different! Let’s be Christlike.

Let’s be of that “Kingdom not of this world” says Jesus.

Back to the First

I am reading alot of blogs that there is alot of talk about relooking at the 1st century and the message that was being foretold by God. Theology that Paul was telling in his letters have been relooked at to see a different message.

I wonder if our belief has just come from our taking what has been given us from family, church belief,or just going along with whatever you have told. It is time we look for ourselves and really dig deep into the scriptures, history, books for the mindset of the jews, gentiles, babylon, the jewish life and their God.

For to long we have been spoon fed the bible and its meaning because ‘that is the way it is done’,but we need to meet together with 2 or 3 together and study the scriptures in more of in-depth way. Start with the old testament to understand God’s people, to understand the real eternal purpose that God was portraying in his people.

Do you see the same message that paul is portraying in his letters as your church, family,or faith?

Just thinking out loud

I seem to do this quite abit lately. I am seeing and hearing things around me that make me wonder if it has anything connected to God’s design for us.

This is sometimes scarry, and sometimes exciting and sometimes both. The catalyst for all this watching and listening is knowing what God’s desire is for his people.

I have been on long and winding road of a journey with the  “God of Israel” for 5+ years (although,I think God has been working on me for longer than this),and it has led me to some rather interesting discoveries of God and his people. The first discovery which could be the most important one is “who is this God of Israel?”(notice that I phrased the question from the outside of the jewish realm arena). This is because my understanding of this God is from not being a jew or knowing the jewish ways.

My peep view of this God thru the auspices of my scholarship thru pastors, schooling and beginning realities of translation from Luther, has to say the least -limited and as I have found out, scewed.

Let me be broad and general in this next statement. “Christians do not know who this God of Israel is.”

Let me tell you why I say this. We don’t know the God’s people, the Jews.(this is in the sense from the old testament period only). How can you understand a God of a people if you do not know the people? This has led me to the understanding of who God is and why He was the God to the Jews and Israelites. Another understanding that is key to this paradigm is the social and political atmosphere of the time. To know the climate of the period of people, their history and the outlook on the future is enormous to seeing who these people are.

As christians we have been oblivious to the knowing of the Jews and their God. Isn’t it about time we find out?

Same song,different verse

I, in my blogging history have touched on this subject a few times but in different ways. I have had one blog in particular that had some good conversation on it coming from different sides but let me come again with a different twist.

The subject “The old testament(covenant) is dead”. Now this statement in its present wording (I believe) is correct. I believe that what could be the issue in this subject is our understanding of the words testament, covenant.

Let’s look at the word covenant first, covenant is the relation between two parties that have agreed on  promises to each other.

A testament is a confirmation of a such covenant, like a will and testimony of a passed on family member.

What I will maybe reword my past believing quote is that the Old Covenant IS dead,(because a new one is in effect) but the fact that the Old Testament is Yes,still alive. It is a said statement of God and His relationship with His people.

But the main emphasis here to understand is the old covenant is over and Christ is the new Covenant.

Let me show you how this is possible with the New Covenant(testament). Yes, the N.T..

The Bible,God,Spirit is really amazing in it’s just coming to you in such a way that opens your eyes and your mind to what God is doing in His infinite wisdom of his eternal purpose.

Do you even notice on how many times the writers of the new testament quote, mention, refer to the old testament? There is anywhere from 200 to over 600 complete verse by verse quotes to some kind of references of the old scriptures. This is at least a minimum of 10% of the new testament is from the old.

Now this is my take on this, pointing back to the old testament must of been a important commentary on the new testament to do this. If we are to really understand the significance of this method of inspiration by the authors we will have to go past the obvious.

Quoting something from the past is just that, the past. Whether it came from someone that we just met or from some esteemed dignitary it has to been really understood to make sense. The references going back to the old covenant, was and still is “for” God’s people, whether they be for the children of Israel or for His People today!

Remember, these “past” remarks were said in front of God’s people(children of Israel) and they didn’t understand the real meaning of God’s word’s. I sometimes see us as the “New” old children of Israel.(This is actually a blog that I am working on,the similarity of the two identities.)

We as God’s people have to have the mind of God to be in the spirit with God. This is a very important key to walk with God. I guess that is why Romans 12:2 has been one of my verses to know.

Romans 12:2 – And do not be fashioned according to this age,but transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what the will of God is,that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.

Our mind is a key intricate path to God’s understanding of his eternal purpose. My mind needs more help than others it seems on some days, but I pour myself into Him, whether it be in His word, prayer,or in solitaire waiting for his whispering in my spirit.

God’s covenant with His people is two fold. One, It is with an identity, a “corporate” one, not a singular method of acclaiming,(we have to re-look at this at the thinking of the evangelicals that has made what they are today, and the message they are sending. His people are already His people, He just needs them to come back to him, not we need to get everyone on board one by one to get “His” people together.) This is a real thought provoking thought, think on it, and study it. Deuteronomy 30 is a good place to start.

Secondly, the first covenant, was just test, sorta, it was to show His people that they could not find or more importantly show them that they could not “do” the covenant and succeed. They would fail, and they did. I think they thought they eventually would tho?

The second covenant, or the New Testament, was that His People, through Christ  would be that perfecting people of God that He had planned for them. They would be indwelt with Christ,Spirit, and God.

After all, isn’t this what He was referring to in 1 Corinthians 6 :17!

*For some insight into God’s eternal purpose I highly recommend that you do a study on “second’s” of everything in the bible. You will be blown away after you do!!

Revelations from God

I wonder how many times we have read scripture and could retell the story over and over by heart to someone, who had never heard it before and used it as an example of proof of your understanding of God’s word?

On the surface this was all well and good, especially to whom you was telling the story too, but unbeknown to you, you missed the entire background of the meaning of the story. I want to take you on a journey now to tell you about such an example of instance of this very thing.

I want to input at this time a tidbit of revelation  here. God has, and always will speak, write, talk, about His people,His children,His bride as a single identity. He always has,and always will, this is His intent,to have one identity to call his own. He called his first people “Man”,we have used the definition as Mankind. So if we can take this information with us throughout our journey through the bible, we could have a different view of alot of things.

All through the Bible God used men that God designed to be like Him, some of these men were Abraham,Moses,David,Solemon, and Jacob.  Now even tho the journeys that these men were involved in were used as their name, it was in reality the whole people, tribes,or followers that were in the stories that God used as His People. It was not all about what David did or how he did it that mattered, it was how His people did what or didn’t do that really mattered.

In another words, God’s people were represented by one person in a time frame of the bible. Now, we come to Joshua, God’s man, or should we say His people of the time, are ready to come into the promise land(or of the Sabbath) or rest. God had felt that His people were ready to come into His fellowship by coming into the promise land. Joshua, the representing one,was to have HIs name and also God’s people name changed!! God has always changed the name of His people that have come into the fellowship with Him.(check it out, there are lots of examples in the bible) God’s people are now going to be called “Israel”.
Now this is where we can start to understand something that you really didn’t see in the old covenant(I will be using this term in my blogs from now on, I believe if we use this term instead of the Old testament, that we will pick up on a major revelation of the bible. I will blog on this soon.) The old covenant or OC for short, is,and was pointing to the Jewish people or Israel not individual people or stories or exciting happenings. The New Covenant, or NC from now on, was always pointing to the OC.

The Story begins in the OC when God is trying to tell His People that He is the One that was promised to His people in the scriptures. This is what is mentioned in Jeremiah 31:31-34, This is the New Covenant mentioned which is different from the old by way of it is now in our hearts and minds that is of God. It is not in our works or ways or institutions that will bring us into God’s fellowship. But it  us in Christ and  Christ in Us that makes His people!

Paul in the NC is always mentioning this fact that God’s people have been promised Him as their King, but have failed to see Christ to understand this connection of God

God is King, now and forever. His kingdom is ready we shall be His servants in the New Jerusalem!

Hallelujah and Amen

Read it like you were there!

Let me piggyback on the last blog that I wrote.

What we need to realize in our bible reading, is to put ourselves in the scene. God was there, He had His will to be done, His people were there,He was talking to them, showing them, doing things for His people,Israel,Jews, and later the Gentiles.

By putting ourselves in the story-line, realize who you are and feel what God is trying to tell you. We are still God’s people(church, bride) we all need to see the picture of who God is!

Have you noticed that one time in each of the old testament and new testament that God uses one person as the identity of His people(church, bride). Joshua in the OT, and Peter in the NT. This is the example of the Corporate Man that God has in His Will.

Man, communing and fellowshipping with the Triune God!
