The “Light, shineth on my feet”!

Let me explain my title to you. God’s ‘leading’, at least for me, is the direction of my studies to go next to understand God’s full and Eternal Purpose for His People.

My journey with Christ, has been adventurous to say the least, I grew up being a preachers kid, just following along with my father and the ideal of religion, not ‘really’ understanding all that was entailed in it. It was not until I stood back and looked at the entirety of the institutional program(this was not at my father’s church but later in my 50’s) that I said to myself, “It has to be more than this, and it is to be done differently”!

It was then that I started to read on things of the bible, thru outside sources, and ‘seeing’ the finished product of man thru God’s eyes! I might hear some feedback on this method of discovery of God, but it isn’t until ‘you’ step back from something and ‘see’ the BIG Picture can you actually see what is really going on in your life, a business, a group, or ‘the government’, that you can see the overall plan and the end result. This is what I jumped into, the dichotomy of what God’s Goal was, and surprisingly it wasn’t what you would of thought of.

It wasn’t the ‘end’ of the story that I looked at, it was the beginning of the story, that I relooked at. You see, It is what God’s intentions were/are that He designed His Kingdom/World by the first plans that he had. So, by this metric, we can go from there to see how designed His original Kingdom, and how He would get it back on track with the hiccup that He came across with man. It is what is going on thru 98% of the bible. It is that 2% that God’s Picture Perfect example is what we are trying to get back to.

Now, to my journey on this subject, when God works with his people, He works with them at their ‘identity’ level, their humanness, It is here that God uses the tools of man to show them their weakness, frailty, ungodliness, spiritless, and Holiness! He set’s them up to fail. It is like testing your child on their obstinate behavior that they ‘believe’ that they are older and wiser than they really are. You put them to rights by showing them that they are not, where they think they are, yet.

It is then that God has them build a ‘Temple’ so that God would be near to them, and not have them think that their God was ‘far’ away from them, when they continued to ‘not’ be able to follow the ten commandments. It would be the place where God and man could fellowship together, but with a caveat.

It would only be thru the ‘High Priest’ system of identity. It would only be ‘thru’ one being who was different than the rest,Holy. The High Priest was their ‘model’ of identity to God. It is thru this ‘system’ of the early Israel journey to realize the ramifications that they were to understand the meaning of the system that they were in. The Temple.

This reality of God’s training man to ‘be’ Holy, to be as the ‘High Priest’ again, in the realm of God, as they were in the Garden of Eden. The temple in the old covenant, is the training ground for Israel, and also the gentiles in the days ahead. This is where we need relook at the book of ‘Leviticus’ not as how ‘Israel’ was to worship God here on earth, but to understand the ‘identity’ we must become to actually be ‘in’ God’s presence, as like the High Priest of the days of Israel(God’s people).

“Thus to be clean means to be fit for the Presence of God, while to be Holy means that one belongs to God.” This is a quote from the book-“Who shall ascend the Mountain of the Lord?” by L. Michael Morales. Read this quote a few times, try to ‘see’ what it is saying? I see it as (forward to now) God’s forgiving our sins, we have gone from unclean to ‘clean’, we are now free to be Holy, the ‘state’ in which we can be Holy! Unclean- Clean-Holy. We are all in the state of being ‘Clean’ it is our journey to become ‘Holy’ to God.

I have believed in the journey of becoming knowledgeable in the Wisdom of God, thru the reading of many men and women who have dedicated their lives to God to dig dipper into the Bible, and read what they have dug up in the inspiration of the author. I,too, have had many revelations reading the bible and saints of God with the inspiration and wisdom of their being inspired by God. I believe the bible,I believe in it’s ‘Inspiring Spirit’ of the Holy Spirit to bring us the Word of God. But I also believe in the Men and Women of God that have given their lives to God to ‘learn and have Wisdom’ from the scriptures.

God’s Word continues to give and give and…….

I have had a few instances in the last few months with fellow christians that feel that they can stand pat in the knowledge of God’s word. This scares me, I mean really scares me!

God’s word is like the ‘Energizer Bunny’, it continues to give and give to use to further the knowledge and wisdom of God.

It seems that once someone feels comfortable in their skin of righteousness they believe they have it ‘all’, and need no more insight from God and his words that they refuse any brotherly discussion of any or all said discussions being fruitful, which is very sad.

Iron sharpens Iron.

What I think is very hypocritical of this is that they stand on their premise of going to a church to be with their fellow ‘christians’ to fellowship with them in the weekly bible study. Now the bible studies(real bible theology discussions) that I have always been in, are nothing short of differing opinions of positions of their beliefs. It would (in my circumstance, that we had a vary degree of people from different backgrounds of religion) we were always cordial in our discussion but we were always talking things out so that we all knew where we were coming from.

I would surely say that true biblical studies should be in this context of ‘What do the scriptures really say to God’s people’? This has gone on for a few thousand years and it will continue to do so until God has us as ‘One Sound Mind, One Sound Heart’!!

This totally messes with my mind, in that for the first point, ‘Did you not start with an ‘Theology’ that you believed in already and now you completely changed it in a matter of seconds? Or you deny the furtherance of learning new things in and about the scriptures that could have one or multiple ‘aha’ moments in your thinking?

One thing I have noticed in some ‘christian’ searching for their theology, is that they went about it in a bad way of weighing their research for it. It seems that the way that some people ‘learn’ or ‘research’ their religion, is to just go to that ‘church’ and have them tell you what their religion is all about, ins and outs, and here is the pen to sign on the dotted line! What? It is like going to auto dealer, say a ford dealer, He is going to try and sell you a ford car, since you are looking for a car. He is going to tell all the good things of the ford, but not the bad things, or tell you that other car dealers, chevy, buick, toyota, jeep, etc are good too. This is like pulling sheep over your eyes?!

For the second point, it seems that from other people that they see that maybe your decision making of the biblical resources have been limited with testimonial sharing with people that says that you could be suspect to wrong informed decisions. Our journey with God does not stop. period. In fact in doesn’t stop for anyone or anytime until God has decided to bring back the New Kingdom to his Creation..

I see a problem with some christianity sects that seem to be very inclusive, in that it is ‘their way or No Way’ thinking. This seems to be a stumbling block for Christians and Christianity if this is to be continued. God will tell us what is ‘The Way’ and When. I have not seen it or heard it,yet. I feel that it is working itself out in christianity as we speak.

This also is ironic in its subject matter that I see and hear this in the U.S. , America has got all the answers about religion and Christianity! Not! The failure of these sects that feel that they are in the know of the ‘right’ way, have no understanding that there is a whole world out there that probably can and will disagree with them. It is that famous saying that needs to hit the box of the church to “Believe outside of the BOX”

The world is what God is saving, I know, I know, The United States really needs saving the most right now, but that’s not what the bible tells us. It is the world that he is worried about. It will be what the whole world ‘needs’ to hear and believe in to ‘see’ and ‘know’ Him! It will be a Universal Language.

If we cannot talk or meet with our fellow believers, how are we going to talk or meet with the unbelievers?

New Creation(John)

John’s first line is the same as the first line in the old testament book of Genesis. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” 2. He was in the beginning with God. 3. all things were made through him,and without him was not anything made that was made. 4. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

There is some powerful stuff in those first 5 lines in John. There is also alot of things to work thru in those first 5 verses. Let’s start with verse one, It tells us two things in this short but powerful, telling of words. First, It tells us that the Trinity has been around forever, The Father, Son(Jesus), and the Holy Spirit have been hovering around everything before time started, but mainly the story of Creation that God tells us that His Son, was there too. He is the “Word”. This knowledge that God’s son was there all the time, could be very mind blowing if we would just sit and think about it for awhile. This also tells me that the trinity was together ‘in the beginning’! Kaboom! WOW!

The second thing that the first verse tells us, is that although this sounds alot like Genesis 1, which it is, it is actually telling us that it is a little different. Now, to know this, one would have to know or read the whole old testament, or have been told it by someone. The journey of man has taken alot of bad turns over the centuries, including still in our lifetime. We have turned our back on him in every part of our lives, because ‘we know’ what is good for us. LOL It has been like this because man chose what was behind door #2, which was the ‘knowledge of good and evil’. This has the makings of alot of bad in our future, as we all know.

Verse three reaffirms us that God and the Messiah and the Holy Spirit were always there, and everything was made through them. God was/is the author and designer of everything good. Just like the first six days of creation everything made by God was perfectly good. Not a blemish in anything. White as snow. Holy and blameless. It was Godly and Holy.

Now, verse four is unique, it tells us that this is the ‘New Creation’, and not of the first creation. Let’s look at the verse again to see what it says-“In him was life, and the life was the light of men”. The first part of the verse saying that ‘In him was life’ can only be construed as being after Christ had died and arose again on the third day, by his proclaiming that ‘Christ was the Life, and He gave it back in abundance’. There was ‘no life in the first covenant, with the law, that did not create salvation to the people. but the second but New Creation did!

The second part of verse four is one of great joy and hope for all who seek him. It says “and the life was the light of men”, this is telling us that man is filled with his glory and shekinah, the light of God, even as the light as God produced on the first day! It is God, and He is filled in us, and Us in Him! Hallelujah, and Amen!! God is Great!

This is the eternal purpose of God to have a creation and for it to cry “Holy, Holy what a mighty God we serve”!

Verse five is even more exciting to find out, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” This again is pointing to the ‘New Creation’, when it proclaims that the ‘Light has shown on everything and it is not dark anywhere, the Light is everywhere! No more darkness to find! God is everywhere His creation is back to reality, and no more evil, earthly turmoil, or mankind’s knowledge of good or evil!

Praise God for just these first five verses in John! We will stop here for now and continue on in John soon.

Is knowledge passed on thru the generations of your family?

6:20–25 Teaching the children. Moses then expanded the command to teach children the facts of the faith (20–25; see v 7). The child’s question and parent’s response remind us of the pattern for the Passover celebration (Ex. 12:26–28). When the child asks about stipulations, decrees and laws (20) it is interesting that the parent answers by telling how God miraculously rescued the people from Egypt, in fulfilment of the ancient promise (21–23). The commands, then, come after the promise, and are part of God’s intention to bless his people (24b). Righteousness here has the sense of a true relationship between God and his people, and includes not only their keeping his standards, but also his commitment to save and keep them.

McConville, J. G. (1994). Deuteronomy. In D. A. Carson, R. T. France, J. A. Motyer, & G. J. Wenham (Eds.), New Bible commentary: 21st century edition (4th ed., p. 208). Leicester, England; Downers Grove, IL: Inter-Varsity Press.

This passage in Deuteronomy 6 is the fulfillment of the word being pass down thru the generations of time until it is written down in the hearts of all men.

So, it begs to ask, “Is this being done in our christian homes and communities?” Did we ever do this? In my studying of the scriptures, and the history of christianity it seems that the only time that this was even closely followed in thought or deed was the time of the Israelites in their daily reading of the ‘Law’ in the plaza of the temple. Which in turn was retold at the homes of the Israelites that evening. The ‘ritual’ of passing on the scriptures to the next generation is the foundation of knowledge being ingrained into a family, let alone a society that will incorporated a truth to hold on for eternity.

I am on a quest, a long and fulfilling quest to read alot. I am in the process of reading the apocrypha, the Pseudepigrapha, and Josephus. Now if you know anything about these chronicles is that they are long, very long. I am hoping to be finished with all three by the end of next year. That’s how long they are. They are either 1,000 pages long or 2,000 pages long or longer. What a deep and enjoyable journey to be on.

It is on this journey that while reading the Pseudepigrapha, which includes 2Enoch that I have started reading that I come across something that sorta blue my mind about reading the word in the Jewish ways and the lackadaisical effort that we have now in our religious life. This was a standard for God to Israel. But what I came across in 2Enoch is that when God Lifts up Enoch to a very High Standard of People, that He lifted Him up for real to God himself and to Heaven. God was to enlighten him upon everything that was and will be in the realm of God and his creation. It was to be Holy experience for Enoch. God told him of everything, in detail!

It is when God then tells Enoch that what he is to do with this knowledge and wisdom, to let Enoch go down to tell his family of his children and grandchildren and for them to continue the training of their heritage thru the ages. This is starting of the foundation of ‘God’s people’ being designed as there identity in the world. This is also the proclamation that is instituted in the new testament that Christians should claim these ‘laws’ to heart as a testimony to God.

This in my opinion is the downfall of christianity, for this I am always getting crucified but I will stand on it, Christians should stand on their own feet to proclaim their allegiance to God, and by doing this, they stand as a christian, without the overprotecting brick and mortal building and leader to coddle or to tell everyone the next step to christiandom! God’s people are represented not as a individual but as a body of people, a Bride for the coming kingdom. The example of the gathering of ‘the people’ was the bringing all the family of Enoch together to give them the ‘words’ from God. This was the same for Moses sharing the ‘words’ of God from Mt. Sinai down to the people of Israel.

The institution of the building, the Temple, synagogue, church, was the example of ‘where’ God’s being would come down to earth for the ‘still in touch’ with his creation symbolism since the denial of man that God was their God, only man was. It was changed in a instance when the God of man sacrifice’s his Son, for the freeing of man’s sin, to bring him back to his creator. This action by God changes the way God is communing with his people it is not a point on a corner but all of creation(the world),the land that he has promised his people is now God’s and theirs too.

Let us remember these things as we try to commune with Him, He is in Us, and We in Him. Our thinking that we are only with him in a box, is limiting God and us in our journey to the promised land. Let us stand our own and proclaim that God is alive and well in one of his creations and that there others beside us, around town, in the country, in another country, all over the world that as not as a individual but as a body of Christ, the sum of all people create the whole of God’s people.

Let us be responsible and ‘know’ and ‘See’ God in his covenants and his knowledge of Wisdom.

The scriptures were not written ‘to’ us,but for us.

Learning is a funny thing that we struggle with in our normal daily lives. We all do it differently, it seems by how we ascertain information in our brains to keep the good and the bad things of importance. Some information is retained by the ‘seeing’ of the actual information and some is actually retained by hearing the conversation.

The scriptures, alas the ‘Bible’, is a collection of history, personal testimony, revelations, commentary and Holy Scripture from God himself. There is a journey of a people, the Jews of Israel and all their trials and errors trying to be a Holy nation following God. This journey is filled with good and bad things in their existence of a nation. But it is in the bad we must ‘see’ and ‘know’ the reason behind the failure of all people, not just the Jews at this time.

The scriptures were in the old testament(covenant) were a detailed covenant between the Jewish people and their God to work together as one entity. God established his Kingdom among them in the land that he established and they became his people to be united with. It is in this covenant that strict things that were instituted for man, for the Jewish people were selected to be the light unto the world, for when light is shown in a darkened world it does two things. One, it conceals the things that are still in the dark area, which is where the evil is hiding. Secondly, The light is an attraction where everyone should !move to, to see where they are going without darkness hindering them to stumble and fall.

The downfall for Israel( Jewish People) was that they were tainted by darkness in alot of their lives, by actually moving to the ‘dark side’! lol Mankind has struggled in their quest to be ‘good’, their knowledge of good and evil, has led them down the wrong road, in their own understanding. This choice of ‘which God to serve or ‘worship’ has been the downfall of mankind ever since. God is the creator. His work is the definition of Good, He defines it specifically in Genesis 1-2. Everything that created from the Universe down to all the things in the planet that we live on was pronounced as Good. Even the Days were announced as ‘Good’. This was proclaimed so that we might realize that everything was for our benefit of knowledge of God’s handiwork.

God’s creation was good. Yet mankind did, and has put their own definition of what is good in their ‘eyes’ for them to live by. But it is when we deviate from the blueprint of what has been defined by ‘good’ and set our own definition of good, is when it becomes skewed in reasoning. We have spun the meaning of good to our own tastes for centuries, and we have had to live with our definition of good, with catastrophic results on the whole of mankind, not just on our individual selves, which is where we have actually defined the word, as the good for ‘me’. This seems to be really bringing this concept to the forefront to our society in the #metoo movement, it’s all about me and my wants.

With this knowledge of the past behind us in the story of the creation by the creator and our God, we should see that we as mankind cannot set the definition of ‘good’ until we see the root of the word, which was set by God himself, with understanding that only thru God can we be ‘good’. God sets the definitions, not his creations.

The question then is “When will mankind ‘see’ and understand this”?

We shall see, but I hope and pray that it is sooner than later because our definition of ‘good’ really sucks!

How many times have you read the bible?

I really hate this question.

By saying you read something, what does that tell you have accomplished? That you have read?

By saying that you have a read a book, is like saying you have seen a movie. But did you understand it?

This is also why I have hated in the institutional church the annual awareness of getting people to read the bible in a year, or two years. So what! Ask them what they read for a ten page report on why God came to earth in the form of Jesus, or why was Jerusalem the focus of the Israelites in the old testament, or what did it mean that the curtain was rent in the Holy of Hollies? And see if they could hand in at least one page. Most people when reading anything they just read, couldn’t tell you what they read. Reading the bible is not to be contrasted to be a medal of honor for the year, or for every year as a prize.

The Pharisee’s were reprimanded by Jesus for so called supposed to be the ‘experts’ of the scriptures, but yet Jesus asked them for meaning to them and their response to Him was ‘We don’t know’ (paraphrased by doug). Their job was to study and to make meaning to the scriptures that God had given them and to follow that meaning. Even the disciples were baffled in Jesus’s words to them in their daily walk with them. It even was even worse when Jesus started to talk in parables to them, their minds where in a state of ‘Whhhhhhat’?

It is with this thought that as christians and our community that we need to get together and talk about the word of God, and really ‘see’ God’s storyline for his people. It is not the ’20 minute snippit’ that we could get once a week that will even get us to ‘know’ God in our lives. He is so much more than this.

This might be the problem with the said ‘church’ that just keeps doing the same thing over and over and thinks that we will get a different result.(We know what this is called, right) We have to be vigilant in our ‘seeing’ what we are reading in the scriptures. It isn’t just black and white. It is what God meant in his spoken words that just point to Him.
