Productive Year

Reading is my ‘middle name’. Ok, not really.

I love to learn. I don’t have a set number of pages to read per year, but I do have certain books that I set out each year to read, depending on the size of the books that I can fit in for the year. The books that I have read this year as follows:

The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha Vol1-1000 pages

The Old Testament Pseudepigrapha Vol 2-1000 pages

The Idea of Israel in Second Temple Judaism 348 pages

Kingdom through Covenant 904 pages

Reversing Hermon 331 pages

Jesus as the fulfillment of the Temple in John 300 pages

Jesus thru middle eastern eyes 443 pages

I am finishing up Josephus the last few months this year, which will add 600 more pages. It seems that almost read 5,000 pages this last year.

I enjoy the learning of each subject or theme of a book, or a OT Pseud.(alot of unfinished material, or excerpts of things to get something from them) But there is always something to ‘see’ in all of the material.

I am trying to narrow my interests in subject matters for books, it is really, really hard, but I am down to maybe four that I will now concentrate on. I am always getting side tracked with a conversation with someone and I will devote some time to flush my knowledge and research out to see and know the topic. (As we all should do, when confronted with a subject of the bible whether new or old.)

I will probably do some research on my four subjects of interest, on further study and go from there. I intend to give myself some time to gather some of my thoughts on these matters and write them down for my clarity and usage for sharing.

I am excited to get next year started on this. But what I am always writing, speaking, sharing with anyone that I expound on, is it is apart, or it is the “The Eternal Purpose” of God that will be the true focus of all that I do or share. I wish all of you to also reflect on what is God’s will in the Bible? With any story or beginning, it has to be the “Beginning of the Story” that exemplifies the thought of what the Author or God is trying to do, not the literal one, but the Analogy of what God is doing!

Let’s all look at Genesis 1-2, What is God’s plan? How is He going to restore His Plan?(Hint: its in Revelation 21-22.)

How did you learn?

Is it just assumed on how you came to knowing your theology of the bible? Have you ever had discussions in church or at home with friends on topics that may go against the beliefs of the denomination you attend? Does this change your overall belief in your theology? Have you ever had discussions with family members on different beliefs? Do you read, see, listen to other avenues of theology?

Have you ever church hopped? Going to different church’s away from your denomination? What was the experience? Was it the same, different, in what way? Why was it? It is a ‘church’. What did you need to see different in the church? People,Minister,Songs,Atmosphere, Routine, Programs, Why is this necessary,if all people in church are ‘God’s people’?

These are things that need to be asked and answered to see where we are at as God’s people. If all these things do not matter, it is what God’s design that does matter. This ‘paradigm’ of institutional people then is wrong! Our theology is wrong. Our beliefs are wrong. We are wrong.

Knowing history, knowing christian history is key to knowing how, why, when, where things changed to be ‘christianity’ as God ordained it to be. It is for us to study, read, absorb this knowledge of God’s work in previous generations before us. Taking things for granted is not wise for anything.

Until we read what was said as witnesses of the whole bible of God’s divine and eternal purpose for us and ‘SEE’ what it is, we should not ‘just’ go to a building and assume that we are doing the ‘right’ thing about being there!

I challenge you to re-read the scriptures from beginning to end, slowly soaking it in and knowing what it is really saying, not just the words or saying of the words but the forrest despite the tree in front of you. There is a storyline to the scriptures, This is what God had in mind all along, we just have to see it. Please don’t just pick one climactic moment to use and build thing around it, this is just wrong.(Alot of beliefs are built in christianity like this and it is not right) Everything is interlocking in God’s words to spell out a amazing story for us to know and believe.

The first step to this, is the hardest, you must be free from outside interference of what you have been accustomed too. Take six months to a year to start from scratch, and read the scriptures with out any preconceived notions from anything or anyone. But this might be hard in that you really have go to be focused in reading the word daily, weekly it is with this that you ‘will be’ in communion with the Lord in his ways.

This will give you will some amazing moments with God and looking at scriptures that will last forever in your journey with him. You will not regret it. Trust me, Trust God.
