Tread lightly, my son…

I am a ‘abyie-normal'(reference to a statement in ‘Young Frankenstein’ kind of person. I am always swimming upstream in alot of arena’s. Religion is one of them. I will go up against the norm to challenge it to let it stand up to ‘not persecution’ but to ‘pillars of truth’.

I find it funny and at the same time, sad, that it would come to this but it always what happens when something ‘different’ or ‘new’ to someone when it is challenged to someone’s theology or institution. The ‘log’ that impedes our eyesight is that we not ‘see’ but that we haven’t ‘seen’, because we have been “soundbit’n” for over 500+ years thru the channels of the ‘church’.

Let me expound on this, a Pastor is person that is trying to speak to one small snippet of scripture of a theme, human righteousness, a story, or even a exegesis of a few verses. This paradigm is flawed. It is not using a Corporate Narrative to the Word of God. It(church) cannot ever work this way. The ‘Message’ or ‘Narrative’ cannot be told in a million soundbites over countless Sundays.

I am not sure if it possible to do this with any “Message” to the whole world at a level of this enormous level at a time. But what I do believe that as ‘hearers’ of the Word, or the ‘readers’ of the Word, that we(all) can finally ‘see’ the narrative of God’s story. I believe by starting from the beginning of the story and methodically seeing what God is moving the story along to get to his final scene, that Rest will come to Him.

It is the sincerity of the believers that will bring this mission of uniting all of us to the true Gospel to the World. Reading God’s word with the intent of ‘seeing’ Genesis 1-2 as God’s defining moment of His Kingdom. Realizing that God’s plan for all to be indwelt in the Holy Spirit as is His Son, thus given the title “Sons of God” a reality for all.

My skepticism of the current model is with alot of evidence to this reality of the ‘church'(assembly), one aspect of this would be the fact that the ‘disciples’ have no knowledge of the scriptures after 40+ yrs in the building that was supposed to do this exact thing, learn the word! There seems to be no rhyme or reason of the ‘teaching’ of the word, skipping from here to there in the bible, without any obvious relation to each other. Not realizing that the ‘sole’ issue of the bible starts at the beginning of the narrative, Genesis 1-2, has just been a blind spot from the very beginning of the reformation to now. Although, there seems to be some light shining from this corner, that is gaining some steam to see that this is where the story begins and that it is the Catalyst for the rest of the narrative til the final two chapters in the bible.

It is because we have been down the wrong road from the ‘Y’ intersection that we have missed the wrong message of christianity. It wasn’t about ‘trying’ to get to ‘Heaven’, but it was about having a ‘people’ holy enough to have ‘Heaven’ be on earth as the ‘New Creation’ or the New Kingdom of God.

This concept is now being realized in many of the roads outside the corner church’s, and even in some, it is realized inside the church’s. This is the beginning of what I believe to be the light that will have to be seen not only to the christians inside the building, but also outside in the road’s and highways of the world.

What has really surprised me in all this transfiguration of events is that it was not ‘seen’ sooner. When I have read the bible thru my own studies, I, one, have had problems ‘seeing’ the message that I always was given on sunday morning, there was no evidence of it to be seen. Secondly, I was seeing in plain site the real eternal purpose of God in front of me in the scriptures. Which leads me to another interesting observance of God.

Thru my studying and my involvement with other bible enthusiasts, I have had many ‘words’ used to describe things in the bible. One, being ‘hardened’, which was used in another topical discussion. But it got to me in thinking about it and the usage in the bible, especially in the Old Testament, it was used quite frequently for different times that God was having to deal with individual people or an entity of a group. I believe that God ‘hardened’ Israel to not ‘see’ their Messiah(Jesus) during a prolonged time until it was to be a ‘eye opening’ moment for the Whole World to observe in an Act of God to Showcase His Son, the Savior of the World!!

It is at this time, that the World will come to Him(thru Israel) the servant King to unite all(Israel,Gentile) to come and bow down to the God of All!!

10=2

Then God spoke all these words, saying,

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:2 ¶“I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:3 ¶“You shall have no other gods before Me.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:4 ¶“You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:5 “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:6 but showing loving kindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:7 ¶“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:8 ¶“Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:9 “Six days you shall labor and do all your work,

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:10 but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:11 “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:12 ¶“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:13 ¶“You shall not murder.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:14 ¶“You shall not commit adultery.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:15 ¶“You shall not steal.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:16 ¶“You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.

Unchecked Copy Box Exo 20:17 ¶“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

These ten laws are the basis of the old covenant. These laws were the sign markers of who God’s elect people. They were different. The rest of the world were marching to a different drummer. They were idol worshipers of multiply gods, all of which were of man made idols to worship in their communities. It was smorgasbord of deities that cover all your sins.

God’s people were under different sign markers as their identity. God was a jealous God. His people were special, they were different, they were seen as a very special people.

Then it changed. His people had not kept up their commitment to the covenant to have the identity of God’s people. It was unattainable for them to keep. God’s identity had been tainted in his people. These identity markers of God’s people was unobtainable. By themselves it was not going to work in this covenant. God had to prove that it could be done. Reaching within himself, He used his son to be the ‘people’ of God’s covenant. He was the reality of what could be accomplished thru man and God together.

This Last statement was of a different spirit. It was God led. It was for man.

This was to be the beginning of something beautiful. It was God and man intertwined together as one. God had shown the world that ‘through’ him it was possible to have his creation be with him.

It was God in Man,Man in God.

Now the new covenant, the new identity markers were changed to show this new identity!

It was two things, just two. They covered everything that was of before but thru Christ is was different. It had it be, it was thru Christ.

Those two things, Love God and Love everyone!

It was different than the first covenant. It not just thru man’s ability to be the identity of God’s people, it was now God in them that makes them God’s people.

This was a life changing event in God’s people.

But with this astonishing event comes some baggage, man is still carrying the old covenant around with them.

Is it a misunderstanding? is it denial? or is it still man trying to rule?

Why is man still using the blueprint of the old covenant, as the ‘way’. Let’s still use the formula of the old ways. See the ten commandments above.

No other God than God.

Observe the Sabbath.

Bring your tithes to the store house.

Honor your Mother and Father.

Do this.

Do That.

These identity markers are old, unobtainable for man. Man is only in it for himself. Man is jealous of himself. God’s people are now different. They are of Christ now. Christ has changed the identity of man. He is one with Him. God’s new people are now shining like the light upon the hill. It is the identity that God has wanted for along time. He wanted man’s identity to be the same as His. This is the picture that goes back along ways. God was considered to be up above. God was as high as far as man can see. It was perceived as God at the top of the mountain. It was there that Moses met God in person to receive the ten commandments. This place is Holy.

This is exactly where God’s identity is to be realized. Holy,God’s realm of rule, His communion with man together. This is actually the ‘The Eternal Purpose’ of God.

Deconstruction

It’s starting over. erasing everything on the paper. tearing your model apart. Start from scratch in the kitchen. breaking your wood project to pieces. clearing your mind.

Re-Reading the Bible from start to finish.

This is actually what is going on in many people minds or philosophies,or even theologies. It seems to be the word in christendom. But I believe that it is almost always done outside of the walls of the church. You see, You might be chastised if you were tell the preacher or an elder that this is not right what we are doing in the church.

It is outside the walls of the church building, that things are being relooked at all levels of christianity. Their has been alot of different avenues of christianity that has been pushed, or thought of as the ‘way’ that the scriptures were pointing us to go. Just in the last 100 yrs their has been 2-3 models that have been instituted thru the name of God, that has never worked out. (this is only for the United States)

Let’s start with the oldest one that started in the 1940-50’s that the small evangelical preacher was supposed to ‘Preach Fire and Brimstone’ upon everyone’s head in those small towns to get them to heaven. This was all the rage. It eventually came to the city, and then was always used in the service to have everybody down at the alter to repent of their sins, and to make sure you would get to heaven, and not hell. People of persuasion were bullying people into Heaven.

Just can’t find this in the scriptures as being used as ‘way’ into Heaven anywhere. (besides being a wrong theology)

The second one is the let’s make a difference thru the church by melding our beliefs into the political arena, so that everyone must conform into it by law or legislation that we pass. This started in the 1980’s and has come crashing down upon us in the last few years. Which we won’t get in to. But it was this thinking that christianity must be inside the government to ‘make’ a difference in the US. This was the way to do it, so they thought.

This again, is nowhere in the scriptures the way that God’s people were to ‘sway’ the gentiles into submission.

Another big thing that was all the rage was the actually BIG CHURCH in the town that ‘everyone’ went to, to emphasized the awesomeness of God in one place by either from the pastor, or from the sheer ‘hugeness’ of the congregation. But this too has died a slow death, once everyone figured out that they felt all ‘alone’ in those 15,000 church’s. Their was no attention to the fellowship of people in the more intimate way of sharing each others lives in a daily basis way.

Again, This is nowhere to be found either in the old testament or new testament!. (Israel’s multitude in the time of the Exile when their people were flourishing, is not an example of this) Especially in the New Testament.

I have said this is many other blogs of mine that we haven’t really focused on the theme of the bible, (or what I call the Eternal Purpose)or the actually Forrest of it, instead of the tree, that we seem to be crazy about.

Why have we not just sat down in our chairs, and just DECONSTRUCT God’s Theology for us. Start at the beginning. After we have destroyed everything that we have used before in our theology. This is a must. No, It is a Command!!

Clear your mind of all previous ways, institutions, traditions, sacraments, or inheritance of beliefs and start from a clean sheet of paper!

Start in reading Genesis, slowly reading everything with the concept of that everything that is going on started with a plan a perfectness of God, it went wrong with the building materials God was using(us), but His plan was to get it back to His original plan. Keep this in mind all the way thru the bible, til the very end, tada, it does!

Start over, Today.

Destroy this temple, and I will raise it up in three days!

This proclamation by Jesus was so profound to the people around Jesus at the time in so many ways, that the ramifications of it can still be felt today!

We didn’t see then or now?

If we can just go back to the scene of the ‘words’ of Christ and take them one at a time to understand them. This is again, a testament to the reading ways of the literal readings of black and white. We have to go deeper into the words and the meanings and most importantly, context.

John 2:19–21 (NASB95)
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
20 The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”
21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body.

To stay in context with these verses we have to also look at how we got here. The Jews(ones within the Jewish hierarchy) were in discussion with Jesus in the moment of Him destroying the temple business’s that were in the temple yard. The question that was asked of Jesus “on who’s authority are you doing this?” This seems to be a straight forward question for anyone, right? But Jesus comes back with lightning bolt of an answer of “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!” Wow. They weren’t expecting that!

So Jesus tells the ‘Jews’ to destroy this temple(Jersusalem) and I will raise it up in three days!. Jesus will put it all back together after the jews destroy it(which no doubt would take them years to do it you think about it,in the physical sense), but was He talking about the physical sense in the first part of the sentence? I believe that He was, because this is what only the Jews knew and expected of God, the reality of the things in front of them. It was a majestic site to be seen, the Temple of Jerusalem, The Temple of the one and only God.

But it was proclaimed by Jesus, to tear it down! Why, would they do it? It was because it was being marred by unholiness in the ways of His people. It was dirty. It was Unholy by the people and by their institutional ways. This had to be changed. It had to be Holy.

Jesus was Holy. Jesus had authority to change it. He ‘was’ the Temple. He was greater than the temple. The Temple was in Him, of Him. Anything that was associated with Him pointed to the Temple!

The temple of Jerusalem was to die, in less than 40 years later, to prove His point. But the exclaimation that really made the point was when Jesus hung on the cross of death, and three days later rose to the world’s morning sun, to proclaim that something better than the temple of Jerusalem was now in use. Jesus Christ! Christ is something new and better than the Temple of the old covenant.

Everyone, Everyone in Christ is now the Temple of God. We are all one. Colossians 3. 11 Proclaims that ‘All in Christ are Everything’. The Temple of the ‘old ways is under the old covenant, the new one is in ‘Christ the Messiah’.

Let us ‘see’ this in the scriptures as we delved into the scriptures of just not the words, but the meaning of them. Let us not continue the traditions of old, but let us just ‘SEE’ Jesus!

Two shall become one

You probably have heard this phrase a million times over your life in various ways.

If you are married, you probably heard it in your ceremony of nuptials. This is the allegoric phrase that is used to say that two married will come together as one in union to live as one. It is, as always a phrase that is used to point out a union, a mixing of things to become one in whatever instance it is used.

This “Two shall become one” is again used in the story of God and His people. But two people would you be talking about? For those people that are familiar with the story of God and Gospel of the New Testament, their is a distinction of two people that defined as God’s people and ‘Gentiles'( those that weren’t God’s people), it was that simple. The story of ‘God’s people tho is a long and drug out story of the ups and downs of a people that were supposed to committed to a covenant with their God. It is this story that I would like to tell a side that has not been really told or understood in our storyline of the Gospel.

The storyline that has been really emphasized is the one of the gentiles and their struggle to leave their idols and gods behind them and to know the God of Abraham. This story has been told and retold and summarized, pulpit beating, Hell threatened, God is coming, Satan is after us to who all else knows! But I think that we may have missed something that might be key to our understanding to our side of the equation of the two becoming the one. It is what the other side is told to give up, for they were given a “new and better way of doing the thing of worship”.

I would like to point out here that this is probably true coming from the other side from the Jewish to the ‘gentile’ issues. But I think maybe on both sides we have a bigger issue that also needs to be addressed, and that is lack of digging deeper into what Paul was saying in the scriptures, about the reason that God sent his son and what that meant to ‘God’s people’ and also to the gentiles. But we will dig deep into just the one side of it. The Jewish side of it.

For the Israelite’s it was a stay the same for them scenario, Jesus’ arrival onto the scene, didn’t change anything for them(Religious authorities),they were looking for the proverbial ‘Knight on the white horse’ to save them from the bondage that they were facing in the Roman world. But whether they believed it or not, it was so. It was a different story with the ranks below them that some believed the God of Abraham had sent his Son to dwell with them to bring them out of slavery.

It was the ones that believed within the Israelite’s(also the gentiles, but just talking about the Israelite’s) that were told that their ‘ way’ of being marked as a God image was changed. It would not be the sacraments that they were used to. No longer would they be ‘officially’ God’s people by the circumcision of the men, the mandatory food laws to be strictly enforced, the Temple would not be the building that they where used to by their Kings of their forefathers, no, it was to be ‘Christ in Us’, and as a bonus togetherness, we would be ‘in Christ’! This would be so wonderful for God’s people(also for the Gentiles). But the problem for the people of God this was so irrational, and goes against what God has told them over and over again thru their forefathers. This was also a very humanistic solution for man’s problem. It was a solution for whole world, that would say that it would only take the right man to put in power to solve the problem.

God’s solution was better, It was Him.

Let’s go back to the solution for the Israelite’s and what the Gentiles and I mean mainly the christians that have heard the gospel, that it seems that we have took up the ways of old, and are working withing the system of the Israelite’s, we have gone back into slavery, which Paul was telling the believers of Jewish background that they kept going back into, but why?

It is this problematic scenario of the christian believers now that have fallen back into the ways of old, that we can’t go back into the old covenant. We are in the ‘New Covenant’! Jesus’ death and resurrection has brought us into the New Covenant!! It is New!

Let’s look at the three thing that I believe that ‘We’ as christians have been ‘working within the parameters of the old covenant and trying to work as tho we were in the New Covenant! You can’t. It’s stupid to think that we could. I believe we either didn’t realize we were doing this or we ‘really didn’t know we were doing it’.

Circumcision, let’s face it this is an outside ‘marker’ of God’s people, but it was ‘hidden’ within the world. This is in itself not a ‘saving gesture’ of God.

Food laws, is in reality a very life changing thing for anyone, let alone for the Jewish sect of God’s people. This commandment was a ‘gesture’ of putting them in the world as ‘different’, it was at first a good thing, to ‘see’ you God’s people were. But in itself was not going to be a ‘saving gesture’ of God’s plan. It was the plan of the Israelite’s eating with others, because now it would not be an issue of what was ‘clean’ of God. It was now considered ‘all clean’ for everyone.

Now we come to the issue that I think is our biggest stumbling block of all. It is the ‘Temple’. Do you ‘see’ from what I have very briefly said about what happened with Christ’s death and resurrection changed things for both sides. For which neither side has done a very good job of adhering too. But it is gentiles that we are working on now, that we need them to see that what the Israelite’s were giving up, they must also.(the physical temple of God, God changed this thru his Son) We are ‘in Christ, and ‘He is in Us’, this the same action as what the Temple and the High Priest were doing every time they went into the ‘Holy of Holies’ room.

This action is what is needed, along side the other two things that the Jewish people needed to believe that God was not only in them but in everyone in the world, after all everyone is God’s image and likeness!!

One story,two story?

The Bible.

Is the bible in its perception and subtitles as old testament(covenant) and new testament(covenant) made us see or believe it as two separate stories?

Why, as Christianity has perceived is that it is a second story for a new people and a better way of worshipping their God?

Where does it explain that it is the second version of the first one?

The whole backstory of the old testament is a plethora of puzzle pieces of God’s desire of our eternal purpose. Most of all references of the N.T. are always pointing back to the O.T.  and it’s border of the puzzle that is before us. It is when we decide to look at the border and to look at the puzzle box to see what the next pieces are needed to see God’s whole picture for us.

What is pieced together in the middle of the puzzle, is being framed from the outside of the puzzle, it is this that  the old testament and the Jewish story and their God that is the storyline of the whole story.

It is when we have separated  the two testaments that the message is filtered down to look like another puzzle from the store.  Then there is the  second story that is being forced feed the pieces of the puzzle to fit where we want them to fit, not where they are supposed to fit.

The real  vision of God is for us to put all the pieces together into just one puzzle with the right pieces to see the real image that he has designed for us!

Covenant

Has the word ‘Covenant’  been swept away in christianity message of today? Have we only understood the ‘old covenant’ for Israel, and the new covenant to be passe’? Why do we not connect the dots from the old to the new, and see it’s relevance? Do we see God working in everything that was brought in the new covenant? People, places, stories, parables, symbols, foreshadow, all work together to show the foundation of the ‘new covenant’. Our first priority has to be understanding the old first. What it meant, what it was, what it was to God,who it was for, are the questions that we must understand to see the relevance of the ‘New’ and see how things changed but were better!

My heart goes out to all believers to understand in a deeper way the old covenant and what it was. It was not a black and white(1-10) issue as we have made it to be! I pray that as believers we can sit down and look at this covenant of God with his people, and truly see his desire for Him and his children.

And then we will look at the new covenant.

Same song,different verse

I, in my blogging history have touched on this subject a few times but in different ways. I have had one blog in particular that had some good conversation on it coming from different sides but let me come again with a different twist.

The subject “The old testament(covenant) is dead”. Now this statement in its present wording (I believe) is correct. I believe that what could be the issue in this subject is our understanding of the words testament, covenant.

Let’s look at the word covenant first, covenant is the relation between two parties that have agreed on  promises to each other.

A testament is a confirmation of a such covenant, like a will and testimony of a passed on family member.

What I will maybe reword my past believing quote is that the Old Covenant IS dead,(because a new one is in effect) but the fact that the Old Testament is Yes,still alive. It is a said statement of God and His relationship with His people.

But the main emphasis here to understand is the old covenant is over and Christ is the new Covenant.

Let me show you how this is possible with the New Covenant(testament). Yes, the N.T..

The Bible,God,Spirit is really amazing in it’s just coming to you in such a way that opens your eyes and your mind to what God is doing in His infinite wisdom of his eternal purpose.

Do you even notice on how many times the writers of the new testament quote, mention, refer to the old testament? There is anywhere from 200 to over 600 complete verse by verse quotes to some kind of references of the old scriptures. This is at least a minimum of 10% of the new testament is from the old.

Now this is my take on this, pointing back to the old testament must of been a important commentary on the new testament to do this. If we are to really understand the significance of this method of inspiration by the authors we will have to go past the obvious.

Quoting something from the past is just that, the past. Whether it came from someone that we just met or from some esteemed dignitary it has to been really understood to make sense. The references going back to the old covenant, was and still is “for” God’s people, whether they be for the children of Israel or for His People today!

Remember, these “past” remarks were said in front of God’s people(children of Israel) and they didn’t understand the real meaning of God’s word’s. I sometimes see us as the “New” old children of Israel.(This is actually a blog that I am working on,the similarity of the two identities.)

We as God’s people have to have the mind of God to be in the spirit with God. This is a very important key to walk with God. I guess that is why Romans 12:2 has been one of my verses to know.

Romans 12:2 – And do not be fashioned according to this age,but transformed by the renewing of the mind that you may prove what the will of God is,that which is good and well pleasing and perfect.

Our mind is a key intricate path to God’s understanding of his eternal purpose. My mind needs more help than others it seems on some days, but I pour myself into Him, whether it be in His word, prayer,or in solitaire waiting for his whispering in my spirit.

God’s covenant with His people is two fold. One, It is with an identity, a “corporate” one, not a singular method of acclaiming,(we have to re-look at this at the thinking of the evangelicals that has made what they are today, and the message they are sending. His people are already His people, He just needs them to come back to him, not we need to get everyone on board one by one to get “His” people together.) This is a real thought provoking thought, think on it, and study it. Deuteronomy 30 is a good place to start.

Secondly, the first covenant, was just test, sorta, it was to show His people that they could not find or more importantly show them that they could not “do” the covenant and succeed. They would fail, and they did. I think they thought they eventually would tho?

The second covenant, or the New Testament, was that His People, through Christ  would be that perfecting people of God that He had planned for them. They would be indwelt with Christ,Spirit, and God.

After all, isn’t this what He was referring to in 1 Corinthians 6 :17!

*For some insight into God’s eternal purpose I highly recommend that you do a study on “second’s” of everything in the bible. You will be blown away after you do!!

The old is over, the new is now.

I struggle with church in so many ways but this one could be the biggest one that I see that hinders it the most.

The old covenant is over and the new covenant takes it’s place as is now the Covenant that is God’s promise to us.

Let is look at this closer, church I believe has seen or heard of the new covenant but has relied on the old covenant to live. We try to instil the principles of the old covenant into the new covenant to continue the promise of the Lord. But this is not the same.

There are many examples that we can choose from, just look at our practices of faith, and our works, do they mirror the ones of the jewish nation as to going to the temple and having sacrifices, or having ordinances, or regulations that we have to follow.

The old testament was an example of a people trying to be a people of God, thru living the laws of God, which were only there to prove to them that they would be unable to follow because of their fallen state. We were not ever going to be perfect enough to follow the laws of God. Our nature was and is not ever going to allow this.

So something or a new nature had to come in to replace the old. God’s people, the Israelites, and even us today have mingled both covenant’s together thinking that this is the way to precede.

We need to know that the first one is dead, the new one is alive! Because Christ is alive, the law is dead because it does not lead to Life. This is so important to understand in many ways, which we will only touch on one now.

Let’s look at a verse that will be glowing to us in this understanding of the new covenant.

Matthew 17:4 (Recovery Version)And Peter answered and  said to Jesus,Lord, it is good for us to be here;if you are willing,I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah. 5 While he was still speaking, behold,a bright “cloud overshadowed them, and behold,a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is My Son, the Beloved,in whom I have found My delight. Hear Him! 6 And when the disciples heard this they fell on their face and were greatly frightened. 7 And Jesus came to them and touched them and said Arise, and do not be afraid.  8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw  no one except Jesus Himself alone.(Recovery Version)

To understand this passage we need to understand Peter and the disciples at this moment of time. To understand peter and the disciples in this, is first to understand the symbolism of Moses,Elijah and Jesus.

Moses, was symbolism for the Law, Elijah, was the symbolism of the Prophets, and Jesus, was symbolic of the new covenant. Peter, disciples were mixing all three of the covenants together as tho they were to work together as the new. But no, God’s intervention into Peter’s building of three tents to three  symbolic periods was meshing of the old and the new together. The old was over, there is only one now. Even Peter and the Disciples had to understand this.

Look at verse three, then look at verse eight, now you see three and now you don’t. you only see one, Jesus.

The New is now and has been for awhile since Jesus Resurrection.

I pray that we as “Overcomer’s”, that we can  see one and only one thru our eyes,Jesus.

May we live out our new understanding of the “New Covenant”!
