Land/Temple

Genesis 28:15-17 15 “Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done that of which I have spoken to you.” 16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, ” sureley the Lord is in this place’ and I did not know it.” 17 And he was afraid and said,”How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of Heaven.”

Read this very carefully. Notice the associations, the references that both sides give. They say them differently, but they are saying the same thing. Land mentioned by God is His saying this is where I will be. House(Temple) by Jacob is the house where God lives, and interestingly cryptic for us but we have missed it in our ciphering of this passage is that this land/Temple/house/place is also “Heaven” which also implies that this was the Garden of Eden!!

Do you see it? With Jacob, later will becom Israel as a nation, God’s people, His selected example to become a light upon a Hill to the entire World, would later be for All to be, His people!!

I want to also point out that the ‘land’ reference to the ‘Temple’ also needs to be rectified in understanding. Do you see it? One, Jacob associates God’s home to a temple(because it has to have a building) This was before the actual first Temple was even thought about, it was probably seen as the thing to do because of other people had buildt temples to their Gods. God’s plan for his people was to start with the idea of the temple, sacrifices, commandments to bring them into the realm of God.

It is then that God ‘saves’ us from our transgressions by sending His Son to die on the cross, and Create the New Man for all to become!!

a few things on my mind

a few things on my mind

This will be a chaotic blog of things that I have questions about or maybe I wonder the ‘what if’s’ of things. I will just use maybe a sentence or two to voice my concern.

Here goes-

Is tradition a good thing in religion?

Is the ‘Church’ here yet?

Do christians really ‘know’ the bible?

Is the ‘new testament church’ just replicating the ‘old testament church’?

Is body of Christ to be represented by the ‘all’ or just the few?

Is the bible literal or allegorical, or both or just allegorical?

Why do we not talk about the book of revelation very much?

Why do we not start communities around us in our neighborhoods?

Are we in a ‘Paradigm shift’ in christianity today?

Why are christians living so ‘high on the hog, when their neighbors are starving or need clothes?

Can Christians survive by only 20 minutes of the word a week?

Do we really need a ‘place’ to go to ‘be’ with God?

When will christianity begin to start lamenting to God?

Who does Christianity really worship?

These are just a few of the questions that I have with many more to answer in my studies.Let me know if you have pondered some of these questions too? and what are your answers.

I feel better now that I have gotten those off of my chest. thanks.

Which is it?

I hear different reason’s why christians ‘have to’ go back to their place of worship(church).

The first reason is that they must meet together with their fellow worshipers which they have not seen since the start of the pandemic. This seems just to wrong in so many ways. If they were your friends of any sort you would tried in any way, shape, or form to get in contact with them. There is still telephones, paper and pen to write, zoom, or just go to their house and stand at a distance and talk to them. Two, if the reason to go to church, to meet those said friends was the sole reason to go, then you have the wrong motive to be going there in the first place. Nowhere in the scriptures does it even slightly say that our worship is needing fellowship with other believers when we worship God.(No, you can’t use Hebrews 10:25 as an example, it is usually used out of context)

One thing that needs to be said or understood on this subject is what the meaning of ‘Worship’ means. Worship is not based somewhere, this church or that church, this denomination or that denomination, it is who you believe is the God of all, who has your allegiance, who is king, who is Lord. Mankind has had to just stay ‘in touch’ with God,by having a ‘place’ to go and be in ‘his presence’, but what we must understand about this is that it was God that set this up for Him to still be in contact with us even though we shunned him in the garden of eden(Example’s of this was the Mt. Sinai,The Temple,The tent of Meeting,The burning bush, the synagogue.) This is why we have felt the need to ‘go’ to the only spot that God was at. Which was true for awhile until God sent his son to the world for that physical being to be ‘in’ the world but a moving ‘God’. It was then that when Christ was crucified and resurrected that God was then in his people, which in and of the world that made his presence even larger in scale than the previous way.

The ‘need’ to go to a building to ‘be’ with God is still around to this day, with all religions. (didn’t think of this til just now) This is what we are all looking for, that sensation or knowing that God is with us, which is ironic that we say this, when God tells us that He is all in all. He is everything in everybody. Why do we miss this understanding?

I believe that because we ‘go’ to something, or somewhere to be with God, that we substitute this for having God always within us,at all times. Or maybe we don’t understand that the new covenant has taken over from the old one that Jesus has said to us. ‘That You should worship only God,and to love your neighbors”,(paraphrased by me).

God is within us, around us, in all for all. I wonder if this pandemic is God’s way of telling us this very thing? Just saying…..

Just thinking

This is just some out-loud thinking on my part. Some of this is either just a statement, or could be a Question.

Is there a difference in ‘Rest’ and ‘Sabbath’, if there is what is it?

God Rested.

Sabbath is Holy.(7th day,Symbolic of Holiness)

Exodus 23.11 Every 7th year of your field was to be laid baron.(rest)

Original rest-Garden of Eden! Everything mentioned in the bible has to use this as foundation of the meaning of REST!

God rested, man had nothing to rest from, yet!

Understanding what this picture of God resting from His Work, which was by the way, creating US, His Kingdom, and Himself as the King of this said Kingdom.

If we use this picture of this ‘Eden’, God, us, his creation in communion with His world, living in God’s Kingdom with God.

We then Know what true Rest is.

So we should know that after this picture, it changed.

but this is the model of “REST”.

So if God being God that He is, wants to get this picture back.

How does He go about doing this?

Think about it.

He starts by just having  a specific place, in a specific building, with a specific people.

This specific place is the Holy of Holies, only one person, can be with God,in this spot, a HIGH Priest.

sounds kinda very minimalist to me, but whatever. God knows what he is doing.

Now this one spot, is in this one building, in this one town. Now the world wasn’t that big yet, but man I have to travel all across region to come be with my God? on one certain day!

and oh yeah, and I have to be apart of the selected ‘people’ that God designated that had this God!

Wow, this is really specific,God.

Why are you going to the whole world as your domain to just one little spot, one little building, and just one people?

Think about it.

Now the issue is not that the ‘people’,place, and building didn’t work out, it was that they failed in ‘seeing’ what God was trying to go back to His first Rest Picture. in a way that started slow but spread to the whole people!

Their failure is their ‘worshiping’ other gods, none of whom were the one that created and designed their ‘rest’!

Now our official terminology of the word Sabbath is a day of religious observance and abstinence from work, kept by Jews from Friday evening to Saturday evening, and by most Christians on Sunday.

Now it seems maybe, just maybe we are short changing ourselves as believers, and God that we do not observe ‘Rest’ as ALL the time!

The relishing and living in God’s presence in the world,as our King, and His Kingdom would be the ‘same’ picture that we started with.

The Garden of Eden.

Think about it.
