Paradigm change…..

Paradigm is a word that I always say is one of my favorite words to use, mainly because it is event changer! lol

I use this word for alot my illustrations in biblical senses and also in just real life occurrences. This blog I hope gets you thinking about the subject of “Paradigms”, in mainly the subject of what it actually is, and then also of if you see ‘it’ in the scriptures of the Bible.

I read alot. When I read a book that is telling a story of say a historical narrative, there are always ebbs and flows of that historical story, especially of a long one. Sometimes in the story there is a ‘Major’, or ‘surprising’, or ‘unsuspecting’ occurrence that you would of never seen coming. It is this ‘thing’ that We will be talking about.

Let’s start with what I consider the obvious one of ‘different’ boundaries in objectives that are set out for us. This one, I am talking about is the differences we see in the bible, in that, it is divided into two parts, The Old testament, and the New Testament, It is here that I believe that it is the source of misunderstanding of what it is all about. The old testament, is a story of a people under a covenant to God, The New Testament is a story about a new covenant to ‘all people’. (Note-using ‘testament’ and ‘covenant’, is key to ‘hearing’ the right story in the bible. These two words mean different things, they are not interchangeable. We must use ‘covenant’ to ‘see’ the story right.)

The old covenant had boundaries, They were for the people of Israel, they had laws to abide with, their identity was shown in their ‘eating preferences’ and of the males being circumcised, and They kept Saturday as their ‘Holy’ day of God. This covenant was the description, the identity, the sign that they were of God’s people. Upon seeing an Israelite in the market shopping for food, and their selections did not include pork and sea crustaceans, meant that they were of Jewish belief. If you did not any of your friends on friday eve, meant that they were celebrating their ‘sabbath’ in worship. It was these things that were identity markers of the Israelites in that day.

Let’s now identify the New Covenant’s identifiers. Now first I am going to show the ones that are being used in our christianity model that is prevalent today. I will then suggest something different, and righteous. Let me just start out by saying this is sorta foggy from an outside perspective looking in, but let’s give it a try. I would like to start from the street angle first. I am not sure we can ‘identify’ a ‘christian’ (as opposed to an Israelite of the old covenant) it seems that the ‘christian’ has blended in with the rest of the crowd to as they were led to believe that if I mingled with them, I would be able to ‘be’ at their level and to talk to them about ‘Jesus’ and lead them to salvation. This is a problem. But there are a few that you can tel with mannerisms or subtle talking that can deduce a ‘difference’ from the normal society. There are no markings on a ‘christian’ to distinguish that they are one. They have no selective eating habits so to speak, unless it is one of preferences. The one that is still used for identity, is the one that they ‘see’ as Holy is the ‘Day of Sunday’ as God’s Day for worship.

Standing at a street corner and looking to identifying a ‘christian’ now is very hard. Unless it is a Sunday and you are standing on the church corner.

God chose identity markers for the Israelites for a special reason. Because they stood out, they ‘were’ different to other people’s eyes and ears.

It is still relevant for the ‘New Covenant’. Our current model is not of God’s identity markers. It is of ours.

God chose one identity, It was the “Holy Spirit”, this then would be producing the Love of God, and Love to others.

Let’s look at this and why.

The Promise of the Spirit

28 “It will come about after this
     That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
29 “Even on the male and female servants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

The Day of the LORD

30 “I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth,
Blood, fire and columns of smoke.
31 “The sun will be turned into darkness
     And the moon into blood
Before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.
32 “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD
     Will be delivered;
For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
There will be those who escape,
     As the LORD has said,
Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Joe 2:28–32.

Now, if we were walking down the street of downtown ______________, You would be astounded at these people who were filled with the Holy Spirit and their wonders and ‘Life’ that they had of their God. Their ‘identity markers’ were not of a physical or action of the flesh but one that was coming from inside their being showing what their God is!

Maybe we should rethink the Paradigm that we ‘think’ is supposed to identify us to the world, and just let the Holy Spirit of the Lord do the talking for Us!

So, What do you say? Ready for a Paradigm shift!!

Ironic things

When we go back and look at scripture three or four times in what it really means, or we see things that we never saw before, it makes it well worth the digging into the scriptures to know God.

One such thing that I have perceived is the story of Jesus’s birth and the storyline behind it. Do we really just sit and look at what all the pieces mean to the story and why they do? Now, this might seem strange or unimportant but I think it is a piece of the story. Mary, being the woman,(as opposed to the man) in the story is in the heritage of Eve. Eve,(both are to be convicted of the crime,Adam) being the first one to against God in the Garden, is where the journey will begin in the downward swirl of sin. The founder of sin, being in the wrong, to be corrected has got to stem from this angle of righteousness. This can only be fulfilled from the lineage of the woman. It will then follow thru to Mary,(the woman) who gives birth to the Holy Child. Jesus, being both man and God, has the lineage of man and his restitution in Him to correct the lie of man.

Secondly, this follows thru one more phase with Christ the Messiah, and His redeeming power upon man. It is within Christ that He has a women within Him that He gives birth to His body, and Bride. This ‘Bride’ is, you guessed it the woman still in the story. God has a way of keeping us in the storyline that doesn’t go far from it’s intention. God’s love for His bride has made a long journey to get us thru the entire story, but he has. In Revelation 21-22, He continues it still, with a Wedding Feast with all invited to celebrate the communion of God and His Bride.

The story that christianity missed

It seems that christianity got off on the wrong foot.

It’s like they jumped into the story right in the middle of the story telling. They missed the beginning. The reason for the story.

Christianity has jumped into the middle, even as the story was being told thru the eyes of Israel which even they didn’t understand.

What was it that made them start in the middle? Was it the feeling that this was when the story really gets interesting? Was it the just the part of the ‘New’ Testament(covenant) that brought them in? Or was it the part of the story that they thought the answer was coming to light, according to them. The middle of anything can always cause trouble when you start there.

The middle of a story, either being told to you, or you telling the story is neither good for anyone. I believe that the most harmful, devastating, outcome of starting in the middle is you don’t know the plan, outline, plot, subjects or motives of the story. With one outstanding missing question in the whole storyline that can be missed, Is who is directing the story.

Christianity has started from the middle of the book, or what is actually the beginning of Christ’s ministry and has assumed the reason on why ‘the Messiah’ is doing what He is doing. We have taken things for granted, assumed, misread scripture because of not knowing the beginning of the story and knowing the strategy that God was doing his works with his people and his kingdom. It is because of this starting in the middle of story, that we seem to be in the situation that we in now. The message has been wrong, for us and to all the world that we have presented ourselves to be.

We are God’s image. We belong in His Temple. We are to be his people. He is to be Our King.

This is what God was describing in Genesis 1,2. It hasn’t changed. This is all that God wants to do, to walk with us in the garden in the eternal purpose.

Language

An author of a subject that he is writing about, uses a very distinct language so that the words he uses are familiar with the reader, or student. His many descriptive words for  conveying the same meaning can lead to a very elaborate picture of his subject that he is painting before our eyes.

These words are spread out over all the material that he uses to describe his story. Although, in some instances it can take another form of the descriptive language, to convey his point to build upon the knowledge of the subject. It is like any other thing that we do or say, our understanding needs to be enhanced or grown into the full meaning of the subject that the author is talking about.

This is the exact model that God has used in telling of his story. He has used very distinctive language of his story telling. You may not see it right at first, but the further into the story you start seeing the layout of God’s design of story telling. A lawyer uses the court language, a carpenter uses building language, a doctor uses medical language, and God uses his own language.

If you can see it in the first book of the bible,Genesis, and use it from the beginning of Genesis(it’s in the middle of the book) and take it all the way thru to the book of Revelation, you will see how amazing God’s story is and how it expands on it and the storyline throughout the bible and even in our timeline that it is still occurring.

I would love to hear from you on this subject, and what you think it could be. Albeit, there are a few of minor language’s that God uses, but their is one major one that overrides the others.

Let me know what you think!

Starting from a clean slate

I have hinted in a few  blogs in the past that I have written about our views or our perspectives of the scriptures. It is not just of late that it is being mis-viewed, it has been skewed from the 1700’s on with layered with more layers of mis-aliagned  perspective.

The angle that which we(christianity) have come from is the one from the New Testament.

This makes our view  tainted.

It is when we realize that the story started from the old testament and continued thru the new testament to complete the story. The testament’s or my preference is ‘the covenant’s’ are a continuance not separated storlines. All elements of the scenario’s are inter-related, they build  on each other as the story goes on, all the way to the end.

All that to say, the biblical story, is a Jewish story, a Jewish story about people, a Jewish story about people and their God.

Our slate must begin with the Jewish people and their God.

We must read the story in it’s completion only from the standpoint of the jewish story.

3D old testament

20150620_162651I have used this analogy before to  show the subtlety of the old testament’s message, but I will use it again.

Have you seen the picture’s that if you look at them right at first you cannot see anything of value in the picture, this is the way we look at the  old testament now, it is only for face value. The stories of the old testament are interesting and morally relevent but there is more to them than  that at the first glance.

As with the picture on the wall that you cannot see anything without looking deep into the whole picture that you see a story that God has woven for us to see with an amazing message.

What is truly amazing with the old testament is that once you see the whole story that is being shown to us, you will now just be able to see it instead of the ‘face value’ aspect of the old testament. You will even start to see the  pieces  all fit together of all the things you have read or going to read in the OT.

Story lines in the newspapers are a ‘standard’ in the industry. So it is, in the bible. The old testament is the foundation of God’s message to us, until we ‘SEE” it, the ‘new’ will not make sense to us.

Maybe the “foundation” does matter!

Let’s start with a conceptual note. We have for all intense and purposes understand the ‘historical’ aspect of the old testament. The stories of the great leaders of Israel, the miracles of these leaders, the leadership of these men, the faith of these people, and the ‘concept of they were the people of this God’, but what was the intent by God in all of these events and timelines throughout this ‘historical’ ages?

We have taken all these things as just stories of the annoited people of the time, and now we assume the same for us today. Is this all that it is? It has to be so much more than this!

Let me use as an example, albeit a shallow one, but maybe not if we think about it. If I as a parent have tried to show one of my children the way to follow me in my footsteps and they have failed, I then go about it in a different way to show them that in the way that they tried to live did not work was not to their avail, just maybe, in time they will see that my way was the best and only way to go!

Does this story resonate with you from another story that you might have heard before? The ‘Prodigal Son’! This ‘story’ is just a perfect example of how we as not an individual but as a ‘people’ have gone astray and gone on our own to prove our wisdom and knowledge and in the end have failed. WOW, does that bring things into the light. God’s desire was to have fellowship with us in the Garden of Eden as “His People” but with our free will we desired our wisdom and knowledge to keep us in that “Paradise”, but it didn’t, it took us out of the “Paradise” which was not with God, but was by ourselves, to do as we want and be.

Maybe the foundation that God laid out for us to “live” was designed for us as a “People” for that specific purpose. “God” knows it was best for us!!

It’s all about the “Story”!

some ramblings

It is just Awesome!

The amazing thing about searching God is the truths that come out through people, authors, bible, and just pausing in life to see God.

Let me expand on this subject. My take on our journey as christians, has taken a erroneous  turn that has taken us away from the truth. What I mean from this is that we missed alot from the bible in how we perceive it. We read the words, then either memorize them, or take them for their existence in the bible and that is it.

I believe where we have gone wrong is that we have missed two stories behind the words. One is the actual context behind the  story or event that was going on in a particular passage. We need to understand the nuances behind the event or the author.Who was the author talking to?What were the circumstances going on around the event? Why was he talking to these people? We could actually know the author’s purpose in writing the words that he did.

My solution to this problem is also knowing the history or some different aspects of the Jewish lives and their understanding of the world at their time. We may have missed some key perspectives on why and how God’s people did not have “faith” in God.

The second story is behind the previous story is that their is either a inference or an actually symbolic meaning of the story of event. Now, this is sometimes considered a touchy subject with people and how they view the bible and it’s understanding. If one can start by seeing one symbolic thing in the scriptures you can start to see others if you are looking from those glasses. You will eventually find out that they all start to point to each other and tell a whole story. The bible will come alive to you as read from then on!

Looking at events through symbolic eyes is really astounding to do and once you see things in this different light, you won’t go back. I am not sure if  this is because you see a part of the big picture of God or it is just God let’s you see His eternal purpose. From experience, over the last few years I have seen the bible in a totally new light, it is like a whole new story of God.

If this revelation from God in the bible is from a “spiritual realm” then it has to be different than that what we could ever imagine or write, we need to be aware of this about God. He is an “Eternal God”. A God from outside of this world, time and space.

I challenge you to “look” at the bible from a different perspective of looking deeper into the meaning of the words of the bible, even the most mundane and reoccurring ones. They all have meaning behind them throughout the bible.

Another key way to understand the scriptures is to pray-read the bible. Huh? Pray-reading the bible is praying as you read the word to be in the spirit of God while reading his thoughts. It does make a difference. After all, the words(God) are alive, aren’t they!?

Revelations from God

I wonder how many times we have read scripture and could retell the story over and over by heart to someone, who had never heard it before and used it as an example of proof of your understanding of God’s word?

On the surface this was all well and good, especially to whom you was telling the story too, but unbeknown to you, you missed the entire background of the meaning of the story. I want to take you on a journey now to tell you about such an example of instance of this very thing.

I want to input at this time a tidbit of revelation  here. God has, and always will speak, write, talk, about His people,His children,His bride as a single identity. He always has,and always will, this is His intent,to have one identity to call his own. He called his first people “Man”,we have used the definition as Mankind. So if we can take this information with us throughout our journey through the bible, we could have a different view of alot of things.

All through the Bible God used men that God designed to be like Him, some of these men were Abraham,Moses,David,Solemon, and Jacob.  Now even tho the journeys that these men were involved in were used as their name, it was in reality the whole people, tribes,or followers that were in the stories that God used as His People. It was not all about what David did or how he did it that mattered, it was how His people did what or didn’t do that really mattered.

In another words, God’s people were represented by one person in a time frame of the bible. Now, we come to Joshua, God’s man, or should we say His people of the time, are ready to come into the promise land(or of the Sabbath) or rest. God had felt that His people were ready to come into His fellowship by coming into the promise land. Joshua, the representing one,was to have HIs name and also God’s people name changed!! God has always changed the name of His people that have come into the fellowship with Him.(check it out, there are lots of examples in the bible) God’s people are now going to be called “Israel”.
Now this is where we can start to understand something that you really didn’t see in the old covenant(I will be using this term in my blogs from now on, I believe if we use this term instead of the Old testament, that we will pick up on a major revelation of the bible. I will blog on this soon.) The old covenant or OC for short, is,and was pointing to the Jewish people or Israel not individual people or stories or exciting happenings. The New Covenant, or NC from now on, was always pointing to the OC.

The Story begins in the OC when God is trying to tell His People that He is the One that was promised to His people in the scriptures. This is what is mentioned in Jeremiah 31:31-34, This is the New Covenant mentioned which is different from the old by way of it is now in our hearts and minds that is of God. It is not in our works or ways or institutions that will bring us into God’s fellowship. But it  us in Christ and  Christ in Us that makes His people!

Paul in the NC is always mentioning this fact that God’s people have been promised Him as their King, but have failed to see Christ to understand this connection of God

God is King, now and forever. His kingdom is ready we shall be His servants in the New Jerusalem!

Hallelujah and Amen

A Blank slate

I have always believed that the person in the  forest could not “see the forest because of the trees”.

This is why I believe that for christianity to continue it must get out of the forest to see the forest!!!

We have been mesmerized by our single minded objective of the bible and to not waver from it that has caused us to go off on a wild goose chase, to get us off track of what the bible is really saying to us.

I wish we all could have come across the word of God,the bible,(which is actually God in word form,we fail to realize this) and without any influence read, see, hear God in the scripture. I honestly believe that we would come away from reading this story of God, that we would be a different people for him.

What I mean by a clean or blank slate is, no traditions,no training, no denominational influence,no pre-conceived  ideas, no help whatsoever on reading God’s word.

This sounds harsh, crazy,or just plain stupid for most people but our understanding of the word has been pigeon-holed into our understanding of the story of God..Our mindset of the way we look at passages, verses,or even chapters, is influenced by our heritage of learning. This is where most people are unaware of their heritage of belief anyway. We condemn people, family, friends for even going away from the norm of our religious ways, saying that this is the way it has always done. When in fact we have no basis of understanding of what they are doing is in fact “the way”.

This is where I  challenge everyone to dig deep into your past christianity training and see where it comes from and why? Do you believe it after you see your christian history or do you maybe see a different way that needs to be taken?

Now, don’t get me wrong, Our christian heritage is just that, christian heritage. But we need to right the ship in our ways of God’s desire and seek the truth!

The key to reading God’s word(which is God himself) is to read it as a story( I will give you an inside tip here, It is a story of Christ!) and not as a manual or do it yourself christian project!!! Look at the whole bible as what is it telling you as far as the main theme throughout the bible.

I have never been a newspaper writer, but I do know that the first things you are taught is the 5 “W’s”.

Who,What,When, Where and Why. If we keep these question in our mind throughout the bible we will see a whole different picture of the Word than ever before. and Let me tell you will be going on a ride with God that you will never forget.

I ask you to try the clean slate and come with an open mind when you read the bible for the “first time”.

I want to just say here that the bibles or the reading programs out there that just take daily verses to read on a daily basis do us no good to see what God is saying to us, it is like seeing a movie trailer, and then going to the actual movie and saying what was that trailer about?

The bible is a “Complete Story” it starts in Genesis and ends in Revelation.

May the Story begin for you!!
