Curious

I have a small following from my blogs, but I have an wide reach in the world I believe, it is a 50-50 ratio of people in the US and the rest of the world. I would like to hear from the ‘rest of the world’ followers in what seems to be the ‘important’ issues that are being discussed or being a sticky point with people?

This is an exercise for me on how around the world the topics of Christianity is the same or different in its reality with the people inside of it. I am interested in the dynamics of christianity around the world in the scheme of things. I would like to experience the differences of what, why, the paradigm that they are in. I believe that the ‘Western Church’ is ‘different’ or on its own mission.

So, please help me ‘see’ and know the other christianity around the world!

Share your own story of religion, church, christianity to me! I will cherish all that do! Thanks

Paradigm change…..

Paradigm is a word that I always say is one of my favorite words to use, mainly because it is event changer! lol

I use this word for alot my illustrations in biblical senses and also in just real life occurrences. This blog I hope gets you thinking about the subject of “Paradigms”, in mainly the subject of what it actually is, and then also of if you see ‘it’ in the scriptures of the Bible.

I read alot. When I read a book that is telling a story of say a historical narrative, there are always ebbs and flows of that historical story, especially of a long one. Sometimes in the story there is a ‘Major’, or ‘surprising’, or ‘unsuspecting’ occurrence that you would of never seen coming. It is this ‘thing’ that We will be talking about.

Let’s start with what I consider the obvious one of ‘different’ boundaries in objectives that are set out for us. This one, I am talking about is the differences we see in the bible, in that, it is divided into two parts, The Old testament, and the New Testament, It is here that I believe that it is the source of misunderstanding of what it is all about. The old testament, is a story of a people under a covenant to God, The New Testament is a story about a new covenant to ‘all people’. (Note-using ‘testament’ and ‘covenant’, is key to ‘hearing’ the right story in the bible. These two words mean different things, they are not interchangeable. We must use ‘covenant’ to ‘see’ the story right.)

The old covenant had boundaries, They were for the people of Israel, they had laws to abide with, their identity was shown in their ‘eating preferences’ and of the males being circumcised, and They kept Saturday as their ‘Holy’ day of God. This covenant was the description, the identity, the sign that they were of God’s people. Upon seeing an Israelite in the market shopping for food, and their selections did not include pork and sea crustaceans, meant that they were of Jewish belief. If you did not any of your friends on friday eve, meant that they were celebrating their ‘sabbath’ in worship. It was these things that were identity markers of the Israelites in that day.

Let’s now identify the New Covenant’s identifiers. Now first I am going to show the ones that are being used in our christianity model that is prevalent today. I will then suggest something different, and righteous. Let me just start out by saying this is sorta foggy from an outside perspective looking in, but let’s give it a try. I would like to start from the street angle first. I am not sure we can ‘identify’ a ‘christian’ (as opposed to an Israelite of the old covenant) it seems that the ‘christian’ has blended in with the rest of the crowd to as they were led to believe that if I mingled with them, I would be able to ‘be’ at their level and to talk to them about ‘Jesus’ and lead them to salvation. This is a problem. But there are a few that you can tel with mannerisms or subtle talking that can deduce a ‘difference’ from the normal society. There are no markings on a ‘christian’ to distinguish that they are one. They have no selective eating habits so to speak, unless it is one of preferences. The one that is still used for identity, is the one that they ‘see’ as Holy is the ‘Day of Sunday’ as God’s Day for worship.

Standing at a street corner and looking to identifying a ‘christian’ now is very hard. Unless it is a Sunday and you are standing on the church corner.

God chose identity markers for the Israelites for a special reason. Because they stood out, they ‘were’ different to other people’s eyes and ears.

It is still relevant for the ‘New Covenant’. Our current model is not of God’s identity markers. It is of ours.

God chose one identity, It was the “Holy Spirit”, this then would be producing the Love of God, and Love to others.

Let’s look at this and why.

The Promise of the Spirit

28 “It will come about after this
     That I will pour out My Spirit on all mankind;
And your sons and daughters will prophesy,
Your old men will dream dreams,
Your young men will see visions.
29 “Even on the male and female servants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

The Day of the LORD

30 “I will display wonders in the sky and on the earth,
Blood, fire and columns of smoke.
31 “The sun will be turned into darkness
     And the moon into blood
Before the great and awesome day of the LORD comes.
32 “And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LORD
     Will be delivered;
For on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem
There will be those who escape,
     As the LORD has said,
Even among the survivors whom the LORD calls.

New American Standard Bible: 1995 Update (La Habra, CA: The Lockman Foundation, 1995), Joe 2:28–32.

Now, if we were walking down the street of downtown ______________, You would be astounded at these people who were filled with the Holy Spirit and their wonders and ‘Life’ that they had of their God. Their ‘identity markers’ were not of a physical or action of the flesh but one that was coming from inside their being showing what their God is!

Maybe we should rethink the Paradigm that we ‘think’ is supposed to identify us to the world, and just let the Holy Spirit of the Lord do the talking for Us!

So, What do you say? Ready for a Paradigm shift!!

Buellor,Buellor?

Everyone in the U.S. should know who this is in reference too. But for those who don’t, it is from a movie where a high school student is always skipping class from this one teacher to do things that he would rather do, than go to his class.

Just thought I would throw this out to all who follow the blog if you have any questions or topics you would like me to write about or would like any information on biblical topics, or discussions on anything related to these things. Finding out what everyone is coming from in their experiences to the bible or to following God in his eternal purpose is always interesting to me to hear how people know the Lord.

Just comment on one of the blogs and I will answer back or we can just get a conversation going to find where we stand. I would really like to hear from people from all around the world to what they believe and why. So let me know, Let’s chat!!

Your friend in Christ, Doug

Same song, different verse

My blogs have covered a multitude of topics of Christianity and its many other subcategories, but I have always sung my importance of starting with the ‘beginning’ of anything, let alone christianity.

I have blogs that have said as much many times. I want to emphasize it again here.

The message is in the beginning of God’s plan. Genesis is a wealth of the informative clues to all of God’s redemptive path to freedom. One might say it is the blueprint of His Eternal Purpose. All of his clues to ‘Life’ are in the first five books of the OT, and the prophets. God’s plan for freedom was induced for His people in the beginning of the ages but it was not seen by them as they were blind. God’s plan can be very hard to understand and follow but it will come to fruition in the Lord’s time.

The path that we must take to ‘open our eyes’ to see God’s plan begins with His original plan of Mankind and His Kingdom. This eye opening moment of man to ‘see’ God’s instituting his Kingdom must come from the failed attempt by his creature of seeing it,himself. We must do some very investigative study of the first five books and the prophets of the bible. The message was not started just in the New Testament, as we have all thought or use as our reference for ‘evangelism’ as we have thought that this is where God gives his Son as the escape of slavery from sin. But it began in the beginning of man’s life in the garden,He was going to be the Caesar of his own World. It is in this scenario that changed things. It is God’s plan to put ‘US’ back in that same Garden, to continue His Kingdom.

This is where we must start in our ‘Renewing our Mind’ on how we see the rest of the scriptures, to take us back to this scenario. It is long and arduous journey of mankind to ‘see’ and to live as if we are getting to take the next step of when Revelation 21-22 come into fruition. The end of the narrative story has got to match the scene in the beginning.

Using this blueprint of the beginning and the end picture, the details and the journey must achieve God’s plan of redemptive love and forgiveness for all to be given Grace. This is another key to understanding this narrative of God, it all about the body of Christ, all of his creation is the subject of this narrative, it began as a corporate story and it will end in a corporate way. This must be taken into account in all theology studies to achieve the storyline.

This is to cover up the existence of those ones that take the little snippets out the scripture to make a point of anything they want. This is not only poor exegesis but poor study habits of an individual or of a group. Remember, this is a narrative story, so the story will be pieced together as a regeneration of mankind to God’s Love for his creation.

By using this formula of knowing the start and end of God’s plan, we can see that “all things work together for the Glory of the Lord”!

“As the Father has sent me,…”

In John 20.21 when Jesus told his followers “As the Father has sent me, I am sending you”

What if? What if we got this statement all wrong, that we have misunderstood what Jesus was telling us?

Our recognition of what we think it means is that Jesus wants us to be sent also, as was He. But………

What if we first break down the meaning of the first half of the sentence, so we will know what the last part of the sentence means.

The Father sent Jesus to do or be what? God had a specific mission for his son to do on his creation. But what was it? From my perspective I believe that we have missed an important issue in Jesus’s coming to earth, it is that He had to become an identity to the world that they would recognize. Yes, He was a man, but he was so much more! He was God in man!! Jesus’s main goal (I believe) was to be recognized as God as the Son of God. This was going to be harder than you think to get people to believe this.

This is when context really comes into play in a story that we must realizes makes the point to what Jesus was really up against. In this age, or even for ages before the god’s have always been around, but with a slight different slant to what we would be used to. You see the ‘god’s’ were always upstairs somewhere never to show their selves to anyone, their was the imaginative imagination of what each god actually looked like(thus the ‘idol’ of such one made by man, really doesn’t make sense) and to give each one of them a description of what each god could do as a job.

Now if you were used to this scenario over the centuries with your people this would be the norm. But what if one day, a man was walking down the street and looked different, sounding different and being different than any other man walking the trail that day, there was something special about him, but you different know what. This man started to touch people who were sick, disabled, or their life was just rotten to the core, and He healed them in whatever condition the person was in. His wisdom talking to the leaders of His Priest, out surpassed them in their understanding of the Torah. Passerby’s were awe struck with his authority of men and women. The faith that they believed in Him to heal and cure their lives was astonishing.

You see God had to send His Son to earth to show the world that He was God, the Son of God. God of the creation, man, and the earth. This was his goal. It was to bring his authority back into the reality of mankind, and not him. Man’s attempt to achieve a paradise on the earth was and is a failure. God’s faithfulness, which has never left man, or in another way of putting it, God is and did keep his side of new covenant that He proposed to Man, Man had not kept his side of the covenant to God, God will bring it to a full commitment with His Son dying on the cross to kill off the man’s inability to take care of his half. Man would succumb to the liabilities of himself. Jesus becoming the ‘New Man’ of the ‘New Identity of God’ is to reign forever and ever.

Now, to answer the question at the beginning of the blog, The ‘Father has sent me’, is the defining of what God was, who He was,and what He was doing in the ‘Son of God’ on earth,as this ‘New Creation’! This is,and will be “you”,”Man”!

“,I am sending you” is the statement from Jesus that He is sending us to be the same as “Jesus” in this new creation!

We are all to be like Him in the image of God!

What language is that?

We all have said that to someone we are unfamiliar with that has come from a different country.

Either we didn’t understand the dialect or just was unfamiliar with the language.

This is exactly what happened in the New Testament, when Jesus arrives on the scene talking to his followers, not of a different dialect but by different language from a different world. This language from Jesus was from God himself in the government(Heavenly) that he ruled. God’ life is different. (John 18:36) God’s language is different and it was God’s people were to understand it to be different than the world’s.

Jesus started talking to the ones that supposedly ‘knew’ Jesus and could understand his meaning. But it wasn’t to be. Jesus talked to the disciples in parables, not specific stories to get across his meaning from His world, the heavenly realm. This dialogue was made for the disciples to ‘work out’ what Jesus was saying to them and to all his followers. It is also our job to ‘see’ the vision that Jesus was putting out there to his followers to not only understand but to illustrate it in their daily lives. Jesus always communicated to people in parables, even to the ones who were in power of the Jews and also to Rome.

It is at this time we should understand that this ‘language’ is of a ‘Higher’ more spiritual or Holy verbiage to all that were concerned. It was if the disciples needed to be tuned in to the right frequency to understand him. And to a point I guess that is what it would be. First, and it shouldn’t be in our native language of human, but it should be of a higher Holy speech and hearing. God talks to us, we must free ourselves from this world of everything in it including our understanding of human speech. God talks to us thru Him and His speech.

It is with the understanding that it is our ‘hearing’ and ‘seeing’ that has to be fine tuned to understand God’s voice. It happened multiple times in the New Testament that the worldly leaders did not understand what Jesus was saying, let alone the Jewish priest or pharisee and Sadducee’s.

The ‘language’ that God speaks is of His Kingdom. Father,Son, Holy Spirit are the founders of the speech. It is when we become ‘in Christ’ that we inherit this speech to ‘hear’ God and all the people of God’s Kingdom. Remember this ideal next time you are reading the New Testament and notice that the disciples or the earthly powers are beside themselves to understand What Jesus is meaning.

Our thoughts are not His thoughts. It’s no wonder that we don’t understand God if we don’t know what language He is speaking. God and His kingdom is unique and wonderful if we only let it. God has designed us to be an image of Him….and speaking the same language!!

There’s change in the wind

God works in mysterious ways.

It’s taken a life changing event for everyone in the world. Now, let’s look at this statement. We might not look at a life changing event if it was just in one or two countries, because it could be considered just their way of life that has led to it. But it wasn’t.

It effected the whole world. It was meant to change the routine and belief in mankind. It has really worked, we are all fighting over what we should do, or don’t do. When we should do it and for how long? Should we be together or away from each other. Where can we go to be with God, our house is banned from us? Why?

Mankind is in turmoil. What should he do? Where should he go? Can I go back to normal life? Why should I have to change my lifestyle? My control of my life is gone.

God is working in the whole world. The whole world. Think about this. He is changing the way we do our life as we know it. He is interrupting our lifestyle, our routine, our life. Maybe, just maybe he is telling us that we are not in charge. He is in charge again. Not us.

God is pointing everything and everyone to himself. God is God and His ways are His ways. He is in control of his world and all it’s creations. God will do what He needs to do to bring it back to its original status.

Our world that we live in, is and will be changing from what we know it, it will likely not be the last thing that we see change in the world. One key thing that we must remember in this action of God, It is not just us that live in the United States but to the whole world. It is a sign that the whole world is corrupt in its ways. How we can, and must look at this, is to change our way of talking, thinking or viewing our issue, is to look at it as a we issue or us issue, not a I issue.

God looks at us as His one creation, an corporate creation, not millions of little creations. Man is God’s creation, his only concern. It’s his Life of saving the whole world to him.

All Wrong

They are doing it, and don’t even realize it!

Bloggers, news reports, church denominations, individuals, and worse is the pastor’s proclamation of the ‘Church’ losing numbers that has assumed it to be true.

What is it? It is the fact that when they,or whomever talk about the ‘Church’ losing people, young or old. They are insinuating that to be the ‘Church’ you have to be ‘in’ the ‘church’ building to be counted as one of the ‘Church’. (When I use the church designation, I will us the small ‘c’ as the local church, and the large ‘C’ as the Church as a whole. This always needs to be distinguished in any article or discussion.)

As a point of reference, when talking to people about “church” always start with the Corporate Church,(this is why I like using the word ‘body’) using the corporate body as the example dictates what the local body is in definition. Not the other way around.

The mentality of our understanding of the ‘Church’ by being in ‘church’ and using our influence of what we think and do to be the church is absurd. This is not the tail wagging the dog thing!

We sometimes think that because a few things are working, or you are doing your part in the church that it is the way it is supposed to be, but this is so far from the truth that it doesn’t make sense. It is like you can’t see the forrest because of the trees!

What needs to be discussed first is the actually the meaning of the word “church”. What has happened over the centuries we have lost the meaning of God’s People. We have boxed the meaning of it, literally!! Get it! LOL God’s people have never been designed to be in one location on a certain day of the week. Unless you mean Adam and Eve as the first ‘church’. Worship was not intended to be what it is today by along shot, it was ‘God and his creation communing together in the world that He created’. How this is changed!!

If this sounds familiar, it is because this is the Garden  of Eden story and also(Good News) this is what is in the end also. Revelation 21-22! Humanity has hijacked God’s world and along with the ‘christians’ have gone their own way to further their own destruction. But it is the resurrection of Jesus that has begun the ‘New Creation’ of God’s world and His government that we will again commune with Him, all of us.

Idol-ling along…….

Old testament tells us what an idol is,what it is, who it is,where it is, and Why it is. Do we know the answers to these questions now?

Does the world know them? Do the ‘christians’ know the answers? Do we care to know them? Are they still relevant questions for today,or were they just for that time?

Ask yourself these questions to see what you answer. Are these questions relevant to you, a christian, and outsider?

Ponder these things and we will look into what IDOLS are all about and what they have to do with us in today’s world!
