Perspective, it always helps.

I have said before in alot of my blogs, that we have to get back to the basics. Get back to context. But also we must get back to perspective in the minds of people, especially the ones in the early times of the Jews, and the old testament.

To many times we screw up in our process of thinking things thru of an argument or facts. One must always remember to ‘see’ the understanding of the people, era, social, events of time to have the right perspective.

Hear is such one, for you to just keep in your mind as you read scriptures in the bible to help you ‘see’ things clearly in their mind set into what they were using as a base of their logic. Keep this handy to go back and clarify something you have issues with. Do not use an illustration from any other time frame for biblical study. What ever you do, don’t use something from ‘today’s’ picture of the World.

It’s all about the “Word”

I am astounded on how much I learn on a daily basis of the bible. Although I am retired for the last year, I have continued my thirst for the word. My thirst before retirement was as just as thirsty when I was a working man in the world.

It is that thirst that drives me each day that I wake up to drink all I can. But is there anyone else out there the same way as I, that cannot sleep because they are thinking why did God do this to the people of Israel, or why Paul confronted Peter in Antioch? It’s that desire to ‘know’ God. Period. Either God doesn’t want me to sleep or I have a serious problem of thinking to much! Or it could be both?

God and or God’s word should be on our minds constantly as it says in the scriptures with the “pray without ceasing”, meaning that we should be talking to God all thru the day with our creator and author. It is this mindset that will get christianity on its way of ‘seeing’ and ‘knowing’ Him as He really is. God’s desire is one that started from the beginning of his desire of his creation and that mankind would be walking in His Garden again with Him. Walking and talking, living with your creator, what more could anyone ask for?

I was once asked how long should it take to ‘read’ the bible? I was referencing the aspect of most church’s that push the infamous one year or two year plan of reading the bible, when I suggest that I believe that it would probably take 50 years to actually ‘read’ it in the way that it should be understood. It is that proverbial saying that we do when we read a verse and say “I didn’t see that before”! It is that reading and re-reading things that build upon itself to see the ‘real’ understanding of God’s wisdom.

Another insight that I would suggest to the very newcomer of literature of the bible, is to start at the beginning, just as you would with any novel. The bible is a narrative by God thru man to tell His story of his creation and the journey that they take together. It is the journey of God that starts us with the eternal purpose of His. It is LIFE and filled with abundance.

Chaos, Light

The first two verses of Genesis are usually are just read over without any understanding of theologically ramifications. It seems that we only ‘see’ the first verse as ‘God created the heavens and the earth’. It is the second verse(which ironically a key to other theological issues down the road-#2) “The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters.”

Let’s bring in verse 1, to see something else. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God is a powerful God. God creates things. He creates things for His pleasure. His desire is to have fellowship with the trinity(Father,Son,Holy Spirit) but also of a creation that He is ‘well pleased’ in the making. This is evident in the making of the earth, in that in each step he took, God says that it was ‘good’. Everything that God made was ‘good’ in his eyes, this was his standard.

Now, let’s go back to verse 2 and continue the story and proclamations of it. The ‘earth was without form’, I don’t think anybody really knows what this looked like, but we know it didn’t look like anything we have now as what we see the earth from afar. But just to say it was without form, is to say it wasn’t organized or planned in any way. “The earth was without void”, it was ‘nothing’. Nothing to speak about.

And to add the last of verse 2 is “the darkness was upon the face of the deep”, so, just like the earth, the face of the deep was dark, or without ‘light’. Finally, ” and the Spirit of God was moving over the face of the waters”. Now we must realize in this segment, the ‘waters’ of the earth had not been formed yet. This waters was the upcoming waters to be created. But let’s backup a minute, and look at this even more to what this is.

We all know that ‘hindsight is 20/20′, but in this case foresight is 20/20’, you see we have read the scriptures and know what has been said about various things of what things represent in God’s world and actions of Him or His Son. There is meaning to everything. “Water” is used in a few different ways. It is said to be “Bad”,”Evil”,”Dark” or it is also said to be “Good”,”Spiritual”,Or “Light”. In this instance it is an connotation that the ‘waters’ are ‘dark’, or evil. But it is in transition, because the Spirit of the Lord was moving over it give it the ‘Good’ or ‘Light’ quality that it needed coming from the darkness.

Our knowing when things are in the dark or in the light is a main concept of the Word of God. It is used in the old and the new testament. Another concept that is used throughout the bible is the one of ‘Life’ and ‘Death’, This is in conjunction with the darkness and light theme in the scriptures. As we can see just from these two examples the topics are opposites from each other. It is a either or picture. These are the themes that are re-occurring in the scriptures that are important for us to use in our overall emphasis of God’s desire of having The Kingdom of Heaven.

Are you hungry?

This question, if asked around my house would be a resounding “Yes” all day long!

It seems that our bodies  are actually craving some kind of food all day long and sometimes at nite too. It is ironic that our bodies have our attention in this way, we have to feed it three or more times in a day to keep it happy and not growling at us for something new to come into our stomachs. It is only a daily thing.

We could almost say that food is in control of us. We are subconsciously being controlled by food. Without even thinking about it we have to have it, whether it be good food or bad food, now that is another topic all together. But the idea of food controlling our lives is there.

To a basic poor person compared to the average person living his or her normal life, we think about this food thing very rarely in that it is our lifeblood to life. We just go to the refrigerator and pull something out to eat, anytime of the day or nite. But to that poor person it is a matter of life and death. It is that simple.

And in a spiritual way it is.

God’s suttleness  is so amazing to me in knowing Him. He talks to us in such ways that we have to look into His face and to listen to what his every word is that we would be spellbound by his wisdom in Himself.

I have found such aweness of God that I find myself wanting to eat and drink of Him all day long. His words coming from the written word and from Him have made me want to snack on him besides to have those three Big meals in the day.

This leads  me to to the revelation that we must go away from this idea of one time a week to be lead by God to fill us for the whole week!  No one in their right mind would try a eating routine like this and live! Why should we  think that this would work in our life with God?

Let me tell you a great diet that really works.Every day that you wake up, eat a meal in the morning, afternoon, and evening to sustain you thru the day, and if you are really hungry try some snacks in between these meals. It will  quench your thirst and hunger!

Now, if we apply this thought to our spiritual life, we will have recipe for a spiritual life with God that we shall not ever hungry or thirst no more!? Now, where have we heard this before? Oh,yeah. It is in the bible when Jesus with the woman at the well.Jesus answered the woman’s question of how He could get some water if He did not have something to draw it from. But Jesus said to her ” Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

This “water” is a reference not to a physical water but a life of Him, which is what water brings to us in its physical sense. I am so in awe of the subtlety of God, it just make me sit there and Go “WoW, God you are amazing!

Our reality it seems is that we are like this samaritan woman in that she(the world) is still relying on the physical aspect of water to sustain us instead of God.

We have also realize that this is a daily occurrence of our being to walk with God. Our belief that our going for food on a certain day will not cut it any more. We have to come to God, who is at the Head of the Table, who is the food of Life for Us.

So, Come to the feast, every second, every minute, every hour, every day for the rest our lives to dine of God and with God. and they all said, “Amen, and Hallelujah”

P.S. as a testimony to this eating of God, I am eating more and more of him every day, I sense that I will not be quenched until I have looked into His eyes and know who He is. God is leading me on a daily basis to eat of Him, and I am now beginning to metabolize in a different way than I used to. I can now truly say “God is my Life”.

After all, “you are what you eat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

God’s Garden

Gardening can be fun and exciting with either gorgeous flowers or abundance of fruits and vegetables. But it all depends on how consistent or diligent you are with your garden.

The vegetable garden has been my forte  of the last few years, trying to grow as much vegetables as I can to fill our stomachs with over the summer. I have good years with it and I have had some terrible years with it.With the bad years,it seems that I was doomed before I got started, either I started to late to plant or my plants were to small and weak to take the thunderstorms in april or may that I was doomed for any good crops that year. Some years I didn’t have the time to really put into it like I should of to see any good results. Weeds are your enemy, not enough water, to much sun, bugs, all can change things real fast for a vegetable gardener

On the other hand, if my time was devoted to my garden with the love and affection of what it actually represents, food, I would put more of myself into my care for the garden. I would nourish it with fertilizer, sunshine or no sunshine depending on the crop, protection from different elements, rain or hail. The most important element of all these things is the daily watering of the crops. It seems that there could be a better method of my watering these plants than to come along and pour some water on each one of these, or maybe just spray all these plants with a long garden hose, or maybe yet what about using a sprinkler for it every day.

But wait. There is another way. Do you know what it is? It may be obvious but we don’t use it.

God’s garden in the Garden of Eden, used the daily continuous injecting method of an underground feeding of that ever flowing river of Life!.

Just imagine the picture of this in your mind,It was the Garden of Eden, there was two trees there that were there for your choice. One tree, although it might of looked good at first with the fruit that was good to the sight and taste, had no sustaining power in it’s longevity, you see once the fruit was eaten, there was no more fruit. This tree of the “knowledge of good and evil” was not ever meant to be a sustaining tree.

The “Tree of Life” on the other hand was  meant to last forever and ever, or to put it another way——-Eternal Life!

This tree as described was feed by a river that separated into four rivers in Genesis 2:10. This lone river was solely for this tree of life in the garden of eden. This tree was being nourished by the this sole river it was designed to create life and sustain it. It had a purpose.

The designer of the world and the earth did not create just for sake of creating, He had a plan or a goal. Since God was the designer of this garden, he was the stars, planets, heavens, sun, moon, animals, plants, trees, and the waters.

God was the river.

Let this sink in for a few minutes, this such an amazing picture to behold if we can see it! It is to bad that Adam did not see it as an understanding of which tree to pick.

The one with no sustaining power or the tree that had forever and ever life more abundant, or eternal life.

This is called eternal life. Jesus Christ, the one that gives eternal life.

Let me add this to the this thought of the sustaining river of God, Look up Revelations 21:1-3 and see what it says about the New City of Jerusalem that God created for us to be with him.

It might just make you think again about this gardener and irrigation system!
